I am more disappointed than pissed right now...I just found out via an innocent conversation with another co-worker, that someone that I thought was a "work buddy" is actually a conniving, weasely...well, you get the idea!
Thing is, I knew this person had that tendency, as she and I had a brief run-in where she wanted to bulldoze something through in the office without following protocol a couple of months ago - and as it involved my department, I stood firm and said no, and the bosses stood by me and she was called on the carpet. She apologized profusely, and I thought that she had learned her lesson, and I continued to befriend her and didn't hold that disagreement against her.
So, I found out today that everyday things that we chat about, she has been twisting and gossiping about to others in a malicious way. Nothing personal - as, thank goodness, I don't share personal stuff at work (learned that lesson years ago the hard way), but just stupid, little stuff. And everytime I turn around she is in my office door smiling and acting like she is my best friend in the world...grrr...WTF didn't I just cut her off after our first run in? My Mom always said that when you "put a snake in your pocket, you shouldn't be surprised when it bites you..." So snake, get the eff outta my pocket!!!
Rant over...sorry gals!
Re: WTF...!!!

I have a coworker that is EXACTLY like that. I would say something like, "I miss my husband! He's outta town" or something along those lines and she will be like, ohhh hunny, i'm sorry. Next thing I know I walk in on her telling someone, "can you believe barb misses her husband? she doesn't even have kids to worry about!"
And that is what it is like for EVERYTHING. I can't even tell her I liked lunch because she'd go tell somebody.
I can't stand people like that!!
Sounds like she has her own issues and has to make things up about you to feel better about herself...
