Re: Do you volunteer around the Holidays?
I do pro bono legal work year round, but nothing specifically around the holidays.
I checked into volunteering at a soup kitchen a couple years ago and they weren't taking people just for the holidays. You could always try volunteermatch.com and see if something fits what you're looking for.

I volunteer year-round at a couple of places. Specifically for the holidays, I usually volunteer for a project at my church ... they collect gifts that get distributed to families through the Eagan Resource Center. It's mostly transporting gifts from the church to the resource center and sorting through them to package things together for families. It's just a 1-day thing.
It's great to want to help out at this time of year when everyone is in the "giving spirit", but some charities are over run with volunteers at this time of the year and some places don't even take short-term volunteers (they might want a 3-6 month commitment for example). It's good to have help, but there is an abundance of short-term volunteers around the holidays. Maybe you would consider waiting until after the holidays when many other volunteers go away and charities need even more help?
If you really want to volunteer during the holiday season, see if any local charities have special projects that you can help with. There are more special projects at this time of year, and that help may be more needed now than the routine tasks that get done all year long.

I have done work for a rescue that I used to volunteer for during the holidays. Usually I stick to donations though. Kids and animals, those are my weak spots.
