Wow.
So I stopped by the paralegal's house today to bring her a gift basket as a thank you/feel better since she's so sick and talked to my new boss to set the record straight.
She told me about their conversation. Apparently one of my old bosses (and I just KNEW it was her, she was always that sort) was absolutely adamant that under no circumstances should I be hired ever. So that explains what's been happening to me.
Luckily, it's also what tipped this guy off. When the paralegal told him that the partner was vindictive, he said, yeah, that's what it sounded like to me, vindictive. That's actually what led me to question.
I'm so glad he's a good judge of character.

Only that she's good at holding grudges. If a judge gives them an unfavorable ruling, they forever hate and badmouth that judge, even if the judge was right. She screwed over the paralegal too, after really hurting her personally on her last day.
Maybe she's just psychotic. I don't know who she was dating in 1989, but I know I wouldn't go for her loser husband, that's for sure.
Actually, maybe that's it. He's constantly insulting her and calling her fat and ridiculing her in front of people. Maybe this is her scramble for power over someone - anyone - and I'm just convenient for abuse.
