So DH and I are finally going on our honeymoon!!! We've been looking forward to this for six months. But I have to say...packing freakin sucks!! I've never been away from home for this long before (2 weeks) and I'm worried I'm packing all the wrong stuff, and not enough of it!
Any tips?
Re: Stupid packing...
I always end up packing too much and not wearing half of what I packed. My suggestion would to try to pack things that can be worn twice or can be worn during the day and then dressed up w/ jeans in the evening or something. Or maybe make a list and plan out your outfits for each day might help.
2 weeks sounds like fun! Where are you guys going?
Aw, yay! How exciting!
My best tip is to pack clothes that mix and match well together. Think coordinating separates and layers. If you have a lot of items that you can put together in different ways, you don't need to take a separate complete outfit for each day, and that really cuts down on the amount of stuff you need to take.
I'm assuming your going to the beach somewhere because of your ticker. I would say take a couple of swim suites (I took 3 for one week lol), a few dresses to go out in, maybe some jeans or nice pants in case it gets chilly in the evenings. Will you have access to a washer and dryer?
I always pack to much so I have no suggestions on what to pack. However, if you roll your clothes you can fit more in your suitcase. That makes it ok to overpack, right?
Where are you going? I would love to take a two week vacation. I hope you have an amazing honeymoon. Don't forget to tell us all about it when you get back.
Where are you going? Make sure you bring different sorts of dresses for different things. We went out to dinner and then to the martini bar, or to the little nightclub bar, or just a regular little bar, so I always needed a different dress for different things.
Also, if you're going to a resort, some of the restaurants have dress codes, so make sure you check into that.
Thanks ladies!
We are going to Orlando for a few days to go to Disney World, then we are heading to St. Lucia for 10 days!!
I'm packing a lot of sundresses and the like because I plan on spending most of my time on the beach!
We went to Disney World on our Honeymoon. Make sure you tell them its your honeymoon. We got free chapagne, desserts and got bumped up on lines for some of the rides. This time a year it could get chilly there at night.
Hope you have a great time!
you are going to LOVE LOVE LOVE st lucia!!! We had a blast and only stayed 7 days, we wish we could have done 10. I am so jealous! I packed so much stuff and wore half of it. I spent most of the time in a bathing suit and cover up. Wore sundresses or shorts for the evening.
I dont know if its still super hot but in May it was VERY hot in st lucia, no jeans needed, but you will probably need a pair for Florida.
Have fun, where are you staying in St Lucia?
We are staying at Sandals Grande St Lucian.
The temperature in Florida has been going down the past week and it's only supposed to be about 60 while we are there, so it looks like I will need some warmer clothes for there.
You aren't raining on any parades, it's only about 60 for a high in FL and the forecast looks like it will stay that way! I have jeans and socks and hoodies packed for Orlando. :-)
Oh my goshhhh - So exciting! We stayed at the Sandals Halcyon (the smallest/oldest Sandals in St. Lucia -- very quiet & quaint and we loved it). We visited the Grande for dinner (Barefoot by the Beach -- YUM) and the hotel was just gorgeous. You are going to love it. If you PM me your email address, I can send you a little email that I sent to some of my local knotties who were interested in Sandals in St. Lucia in case you're interested in restaurants, etc.
About packing -- Definitely roll things! And make sure your DH brings nice shirts, long dress pants (or khakis) and closed toe shoes. They are strict-ish about dress code for guys at dinner.
We stayed at the Sandals Grande too and it was fabulous, enjoy every second of it!
