Who has their tree up?

We are for sure cutting one down this weekend, and I am soooo excited.  I am super jealous of everyone that already has their house all Christmased up!  Are we all going to PIP next week?

Re: Who has their tree up?

  • We're still debating real vs fake.  I would like to get a real one but we don't have a good car to transport it in.  Usually we will go with my parents and my dad will drive ours over in his van, but they already got theirs this year when we were busy.  We did put up lights outside though, so that makes me feel better!  Our stockings are up too.
  • we're going to cut one down this weekend too! we've never cut our own tree so i'm really excited to do it. most of the other decorations are up inside the house... all thats missing is the tree. still not sure about lights outside... we'll see how that goes. i will PIP next week for sure!

  • Next weekend! I am just not a fan of keeping trees up for a month, so we get it the 2nd weekend usually and it comes down the week after Christmas (or at least New Year's Day).

  • Nope, and only if DH motivates to get one! He was lazy the last two years so we've only had one (my first one!) together [technically, he wasn't lazy last year, we were scared to get one because of the kitten & his terrordom that he causes].

  • bostonbaker, why can't you just tie it to the top of your car?

I'm the opposite of Punky and like to enjoy my Christmas decorations for as long as possible.  I got everything decorated by the end of last weekend, but I don't have any pics yet.  It sounded like a lot of you still needed to get your trees so I thought a post next week with pics of all the decorations might be good.  Take pics this weekend, ladies!

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

My H doesn't like to tie stuff to the top of our cars.  It is one of those random things he feels strongly about so I just let it go.  I could probably convince him to put one in the trunk with the back seat folded down.  We can't fit anything too tall in our house anyway.  We'll see... I'll let you guys know what we end up doing.

  • We have a 3 foot fake tree for our little apartment. It went up in 5 minutes. Smile

We don't have too many ornaments on it though. I have a box of mine, but DH lost his in a house fire, so we're building up our ornaments - as a couple.

  • We're getting ours this weekend, can't wait!!! DH was just putting on the lights outside earlier and it made me so happy!

You could put a canvas or other drop cloth on the roof first, under the tree. That's what my H does--because, you know, the 15-year-old car with completely faded paint and the check engine light on needs to be protected Stick out tongue

FOR REAL.  His car has 125k miles and scratches all over the front from when someone backed into it earlier this summer.  Good thing I love him.  Anyway.......no tree for us yet.

  • We put ours up this past weekend.  We have a small-ish place and there is not much to decorate (no mantel, etc) so we always get a tree.  We are also trying to build our ornament collection.  We try to get an ornament from each place we travel to.
  • We were out of town for Thanksgiving and been busy all week so no decorations are up yet.  I hope we get some up this weekend though.  I can't wait to get the decorations up and see Lillie's reaction to them. We put up my parents decorations last weekend and she loooooooved them.

Do you guys remember my story from last year?  We had traded in DH's pickup truck right before we went to get a tree.  He was so upset that he had to tie the tree onto the SUV he got all upset...and then he just LOST it on the way home---had a total meltdown about it.  Needless to say we got a new pickup truck shortly after because I could not handle it anymore.  Ha ha ha.

I do remember that!  DH would love to buy a truck.  I look at him like he's crazy every time he mentions it.  We would use it maybe once every two months to haul stuff, otherwise it would just be a waste of gas compared to the mileage we get on our compact cars.

  • We're cutting ours down on Sunday! I can't wait :-D

  • bostonbaker- we have a fake tree and I LOVE it! DH asks every year for a real tree, and so far I've won the battle every year. It is so much easier! Pre-lit, no needles on the floor, no watering, and no dead-tree to dispose of. I've invested in a bunch of Christmas scented Yankee candles, and voila! Plus no one ever notices it's fake until we tell them!

We're setting up the tree this afternoon, I hope. We'd like to get some Christmas-y photos of the little dude to send out a Christmas card, so we need to get on it asap!

  • I think we're going Wed to get ours. That gives me a few days to get this place cleaned up a little first!
  • Trees are up!

I'm a musician and the holidays are crazy! If I don't get the trees up the weekend after Thanksgiving, they will not get put up at all.
