xmas cards--tacky?

So I am trying to decide what to do for xmas cards this year.  We did not include our wedding picture in our thank you's so I am debating printing xmas cards with our wedding pic on them.  However, is that tacky?

Then I found this on etsy.  What do you think?

Re: xmas cards--tacky?

  • Hi!  Not tacky to put a wedding picture in my opinion, but I think the ones you linked to are more like an announcement which I think is gift grabby...We did a regular Hanukkah photo card from Shutterfly and used one of our wedding pictures and wrote what we would normally say.  Hope this helps!

  • I like that idea!

  • IMO, it's not tacky at all! I'm doing christmas cards with two of our wedding pictures on the card...after all we are still newlyweds I think we are allowed to show off our wedding pictures on xmas cards!

  • I think the link you posted is ADORABLE! I didn't think gift grabby when I saw it...I thought more oh how cute. I would hope others wouldn't think the same thing...b/c that wouldn't be my intention. :-/ Thinking I might purchase one...so super cute...so who cares what the receiver thinks!! :-D

  • I think that link is cute, but it does kind of look like an announcement in the design. I don't really associate it with gift grabby though. I was looking on Shutterfly the other night for ideas for our card and a lot of their examples use wedding photos and look really nice. If we hadn't already planned on using a photo from the Colts-Cowboys game we're going to this weekend, we would use a wedding photo. I'm hoping to do a Christmas postcard so that we can use up the stamps left over from our RSVPs.

  • Love the idea!!!  But I would probably make the pic a bit smaller and make it a bit more Christmas-y.

Hahahaha, I can't even imagine what people would think if I did that here.  Australians aren't really into personalised Christmas cards.

  • I think using the wedding photo is fine!  We're doing the same, we didn't send pics in our TYs so I ordered shutterfly cards with a wedding photo.

However, I do think the card you linked to is really cheesy.  The whole cursive "WE DO" thing makes the card more about your wedding than holiday greetings, so I wouldn't do it.  It seems kind of AW to me.  But just a normal holiday card with a wedding photo is fine to me!  And a lot of my friends did it after they got married.

  • Thanks everyone!  I just ordered regular photo cards through Walgreens.  I can't wait to pick them up and send them out to everyone.  I guess if I can stare at pics of everyone's kids and babies, then they can stand a picture of us!
