Re: Thursday Poll :)
1) Do you have any hobies? If so, what are they? Not really. Shopping, cooking. I would like to learn how to knit.
2) What is your current favorite restaurant (can be local or a chain)? Any particular reason? Stone Rose - It's right around the corner from me, and it's delish! Great wine selection too!
3) Do you have a favorite charity/cause that you like to support? (Feel free to name the carity, and why it is close to your heart). The American Humane Association. I have a passion for animals, and get sick when I hear about animal crulty. I don't want to say that animals are helpless, because they can defend themselfs to an extent - but against a human is different (i.e. gun/chains/etc.) I like the fact that they also care about children.
4) Do you have your H have nicknames? Let's hear them! I usually call him something along the lines of pookie, or pooks. He's not that creative, and I will just get "babe".
5) Best thing to date that you have ever experienced? Although the circumstances weren't that great, I witnessed my nephew being born (my sister didn't know she was pregnant, ended up going into shock, but I was there to help out, and make sure baby was okay).
Making my dad proud
6) Are you looking foward to the holidays? Why or why not? I'm inbetween. No, because it's just going to suck in general without my dad. And my mind is still out there, and I'm having a hard time figuring out what to get people (I got H a belt, when I got home and looked at it, it wasn't his size....I have also done this with two items of clothing that I bought for myself), so I'm kinda sucking at buying stuff right now! However, I have just made the decision to go to Michigan for Christmas - to be with my inlaws. So, I am looking foward to that, and am looking foward to my H being able to be with his family on Christmas (he hasn't been home for Christmas in maybe 4 years..).
1) Do you have any hobbies? If so, what are they? I like to read, cross-stitch, do general crafts
2) What is your current favorite restaurant (can be local or a chain)? Any particular reason? Currently, Zio's for their crispy shrimp scampi. I love that sauce. I dream about that sauce!
3) Do you have a favorite charity/cause that you like to support? I give all my money to Defenders of Wildlife to protect the gray wolf population from over-zealous hunters and psychopaths like Sarah Palin.
4) Do you have your H have nicknames? Let's hear them! Nope, not really. Generic pet names, if anything.
5) Best thing to date that you have ever experienced? Zip lining through the rain forest and waterfalls in Costa Rica.
6) Are you looking foward to the holidays, why or why not? Not a bit because we have to spend them with the inlaws.
My Bio (wedding pics added 7/6)
My 101
1) Do you have any hobbies? If so, what are they? Whitewater rafting & crocheting. Getting better at this cooking thing too.
2) What is your current favorite restaurant (can be local or a chain)? Any particular reason? There is brewery down the hill that's pretty good.
3) Do you have a favorite charity/cause that you like to support? (Feel free to name the carity, and why it is close to your heart). We have two. One is the DAV (Disabled American Veterans). DH is military and he likes that its a related cause. The other is the Juneau Icefield Research Program (JIRP), a program that I was a part of back in college. Glacial research, basically, but it was a great experience.
4) Do you have your H have nicknames? Let's hear them! I don't really and his is a shortened version of his real name (so I won't share it online).
5) Best thing to date that you have ever experienced? Probably falling in love with DH.
6) Are you looking foward to the holidays, why or why not? Not really. We'll be on the opposite coast of all our family. The feeling of not only not being there but literally not having it as an option (financially)...its hard.

~All AL'ers welcome~
1) Do you have any hobies? If so, what are they? I like to scrapbook and try out new recipes. School is a big hobby for me right now, lol.
2) What is your current favorite restaurant (can be local or a chain)? Any particular reason? Locally we don't have much to choose from. I love our local Mexican restaurant. I'm sure it's not reeeeallly Mexican, but it is good!
3) Do you have a favorite charity/cause that you like to support? (Feel free to name the carity, and why it is close to your heart). We donate to our local animal shelter and a few of the local fire departments. Even though Jason is on one of the fire departments, I know if anything happened to our home that they aren't the only ones that would be responding. I want them to have the latest and greatest equipment.
4) Do you have your H have nicknames? Let's hear them! We don't have any nicknames for each other.
5) Best thing to date that you have ever experienced? Aside from marrying Jason, I guess it would have to be last week. I filled out my graduation application and will FINALLY be graduating college in May. It has been a long time coming. And I will be the first one in my family to graduate. My parents both went for a while but didn't finish.
6) Are you looking foward to the holidays, why or why not? Not really. I thought I was, but I have just been really bummed out the last few days. Hopefully it will turn around once we get our tree up.

1) Do you have any hobbies? If so, what are they? I used to, and then I had a baby. :-) I do still enjoy shopping, reading, and playing tennis.
2) What is your current favorite restaurant (can be local or a chain)? Any particular reason? Of all time? I'd have to go with Per Se in New York City. Hands down, the best meal I have ever had. I didn't want it to ever end. Locally, there's not much to choose from, but I'd have to say Biaggi's. It's Italian and the food is pretty good. What makes a good restaurant is the food. I could care less about service if the food is amazing.
3) Do you have a favorite charity/cause that you like to support? (Feel free to name the carity, and why it is close to your heart). I support Heifer International, Doctors without Borders, and the American Cancer Society, along with some local soup kitchens and shelters.
4) Do you have your H have nicknames? Let's hear them! I call DH "honey bear" and he calls me "baby honey"
5) Best thing to date that you have ever experienced? The moment my son was born and put into my arms.
6) Are you looking foward to the holidays, why or why not? Yes! Mostly because it's Alex's first Christmas. I also love decorating the tree and looking at the lights every evening, wrapping and unwrapping presents, and Christmas music. The only thing I'm not looking forward to is driving to Michigan the day after Christmas.
1) My hobbies are reading, writing, blogging, and scrapbooking/crafting. I'd love to turn any and all of them from "hobby" to "career" at some point.
2) After leaving California for any amount of time, I always come home craving local Baja/Mexican food. I'm sorry Colorado and Montana, I don't know what you think you're serving, but it's not Mexican food. Locally I like a chain called Sombreros.
3) After doing the 3-Day, obviously Susan G. Komen is important to me. I've had many women in my life impacted by breast cancer, and I think it's a worthy cause/good organization.
4) He calls me "Little Lion," and I call him "[Adjective] Bear" (the adjective is usually either "Grumpy" or "Snuggly.") When we're both really stressed, we call the other one "Stress Bunny" or "Stress Buckethead" (or, in severe cases, like the day of my thesis defense, "Stress Bunny Buckethead.") Those are rare though, and usually only used in a silly manner. Otherwise, we stick with the normal babe/honey.
5) I don't know if it's definitely the "best" but the first thing that comes to mind is sledding on the top of the Swiss Alps in Lucerne, Switzerland. That entire trip was life changing, but as I've said time and time again, when I got off the cable car and looked around at the Alps and the snow and the sun and the cloud, I have always said that's the closest I've ever felt to seeing the face of God in nature.
6) Yes and no. Yes because I LOVE the holidays. Love love love love love them. And I really, really need a break right now. No because for the first time in twenty-seven years, I have no idea what I'm going to do with myself. I don't have school or a job or a big vacation or anything planned. It's exciting, but it's also terrifying.
1) Do you have any hobies? If so, what are they? I have a ton of scrapbooking supplies and pictures but they have yet to meet
2) What is your current favorite restaurant (can be local or a chain)? Any particular reason? The Big Boy in my hometown. It is not like the others in that it is a drive-thru only and they have their own menu. It is just a huge part of going home for me.
3) Do you have a favorite charity/cause that you like to support? (Feel free to name the carity, and why it is close to your heart). I posted in my blog a few weeks ago but the March of Dimes for their research and efforts in preventing and assisting premature babies. Also Children's Hospital where Amelia was first treated. I could go on for days about them but in summary, they gave me my daughter.
4) Do you have your H have nicknames? Let's hear them! mostly generic nicknames
5) Best thing to date that you have ever experienced? every day with Amelia. It is the most amazing thing in the world to watch her grow and experience things for the first time.
6) Are you looking foward to the holidays, why or why not? I am not looking forward to celebrating with DH's family but the actual holiday (on our own) and my family's celebration I am really looking forward to.
1) Do you have any hobies? If so, what are they? Well, I like to read, travel, and do projects around the house.
2) What is your current favorite restaurant (can be local or a chain)? Any particular reason? I love this vegan-cuban place in my hometown, the food is insane. I also love the Thai restaurant in town.
3) Do you have a favorite charity/cause that you like to support? (Feel free to name the carity, and why it is close to your heart). We support the local animals shelters, in fact, instead of traditional Valentine's gifts, we donate in each others names.
4) Do you have your H have nicknames? Let's hear them! DH calls me Kritter, which is what my whole family calls me. I call him Tater, and it's a LONG story as to why.
5) Best thing to date that you have ever experienced? It would be a toss up between skydiving, our wedding, and our honeymoon.
6) Are you looking foward to the holidays, why or why not? I am not looking forward to celebrating with DH's family but I do like to spend time with my family. I have some great gifts for them this year and I can't wait for them to open them all!!
1) Do you have any hobbies? If so, what are they? I read and I cook/bake. I'm trying to make more of a hobby out of photography.
2) What is your current favorite restaurant (can be local or a chain)? Any particular reason? Ever since I've been pregnant, a local Mexican place called El Nopal. We eat there about once a week, its cheap and delicious. My favorite "nice" restaurant is a steakhouse called Jack Fry's. They have the best food I've ever eaten anywhere in my life but you can't get out of there for under $100 for 2 people.
3) Do you have a favorite charity/cause that you like to support? The Humane Society. I also support make paycheck contributions to our company charity fund. I'm on the committee for deciding who gets a grant and the stories are heartbreaking and I think its nice that my money is going to help people that I actually know/relate to since its a small company, even if it is anonymous.
4) Do you have your H have nicknames? Let's hear them! I just call him generic names "babe" or "honey" - he calls me "wiffee" frequently although I dont know how he spells it because he mispronounced "wifey" right after we got married. I can't even remember why it was written somewhere but somehow the name stuck.
5) Best thing to date that you have ever experienced? Feeling our baby kick, its surreal.
6) Are you looking foward to the holidays, why or why not? For the most part I am. We are going to spend them with my family this year which is always fun. I'm not looking forward to spending 15 hours in the car though.

1) Do you have any hobbies? If so, what are they? Not really any more, which is sad. I used to dance, do yoga, scrapbook, make jewelry. School really gets in the way of all of that. You could say I collect make-up, though.
2) What is your current favorite restaurant (can be local or a chain)? Any particular reason? Probably a Mexican restaurant, La Cabanita. I could be ready to go there any day, any time.
3) Do you have a favorite charity/cause that you like to support? Our local public radio station. I volunteer there during drives and am always a current supporter. I also try to support our local animal shelter when I can (they're no-kill).
4) Do you have your H have nicknames? Let's hear them! Not really. All the usual things, plus I often call him Husband (as in "Here's that thing you were looking for, Husband.") When I annoy him, he calls me Fidgety McFidgerton.
5) Best thing to date that you have ever experienced? Probably our rehearsal dinner. I always like the anticipation of an event more than the event itself, plus it was a blast. It was a BBQ with live band and contra dancing (like square dancing).
6) Are you looking foward to the holidays, why or why not? I looooooove the holidays. Not looking forward to throwing our annual party, though.

1) Do you have any hobbies? If so, what are they? Probably cooking (when I have time) and watching HGTV. Blogging, but I sort of suck at that too. I got a fancy camera, but so far have not ventured out of automatic. Someday
2) What is your current favorite restaurant (can be local or a chain)? Any particular reason? We like Logan's Roadhouse and Flat Top Grill.
3) Do you have a favorite charity/cause that you like to support? I usually support United Way.
4) Do you have your H have nicknames? Let's hear them! I usually just call him Babe or Husband.
5) Best thing to date that you have ever experienced? When they put Nick in my arms. It was one of those moments where you just can't do anything other than cry. Truely the best moment of my life.
6) Are you looking foward to the holidays, why or why not? Yes! My family is coming here for Christmas so it should be a good time. Crazy with 6 adults (including two wheelchairs) 1 baby, 3 cats, and 2 crazy dogs in my 1600 square foot house, but it will be fun nonetheless
