Those who have known me a while know that I have a crazy fear of sharks. We were married in Waimanalo. Remember, there was a guy who had shark bites from standing in the surf at Waimanalo when he was waist deep? Every time I stood in the water, I wondered if I was about as deep as he was... and, if sharks were swimming around. I never, never want to see a shark.
Today, we went scuba diving. The guide was pointing under a reef. Guess what was in there? Sharks! They were so sweet and peaceful. I think I might be over my fear of sharks. They were just white tipped reef sharks.

Newlyweds since 2007
Re: Sharks!
A. How did I not hear about this guy in Waimanalo? That's scary!! I guess I'm glad I didn't hear about that... considering I grew up right down the way from Waimanalo beach.
B. That's awesome that you may be over your fear of sharks! I think seeing them the way you did would probably make me feel a little better about them and maybe think of them more as fish than predators.
Glad you had a good experience!
I saw one when we went snorkling, but kept myself calm by telling myself it was just a big grey fish.
I LOVE shark shows and would even love to go cage diving. I think sharks are beautiful animals. But I do not want to be near them unprotected!!!
So glad that you hear of that you starting to overcoming your fear. They are some scary creatures. Last night I was watching the "The Real Jaws" on the History channel and totally creeped me out even more. Basically it went through the the first ever recorded shark attack and that was back in 1916 along the New Jersey coastline with a few more following that summer to the inspiration of the actual movie itself.
i've never heard of that shark attack in waimanalo either!! scary..I've swam there so many times! Those little nurse sharks are really cute though...
I always have that nagging fear of sharks in the ocean too...I didn't go into Tunnels beach because that's where that surfer girl Bethany got her arm bit off by a great white...so of course I stayed on the sand...
