Good for you Brit! Blogging is fun, and there are several of us who do. (Jena(Sting Shark), Jen (Jen&Louie) and myself that I remember for sure.)
I will check out your new blog... Before I do, here's a few thoughts. I definitely think it's just important to write about things that interest you. Include pictures if possible - cuz everybody loves those! I know it's also good to have a main topic or "theme" but don't feel too restricted by that either. I read some great blogs that are just about food or just about fitness, but my own blog is more of a lifestyle blog about farming and cows, food, running, and life in general. So - I think it can work either way.

A few more random thoughts. I love the background - so pretty! Also, you may want to change your profile and display names so they don't show your last name. It's fine if you're comfortable with it, but I know many people like to keep their full name private.
Very cute pictures of your kiddos! Just keep blogging and if you leave comments on other people's blogs (that link to your blog) more people will keep finding you and reading. There's also lots of blog-related and message board webites where you can share your blog, but aside from the nest I don't have a lot of info there. I am still new to this whole blog world, but I do know that it definitely takes time to build up a base of readers. Happy blogging!

Definitely post pictures. I absolutely love seeing other peoples lives through pictures. I enjoy reading, but I just love seeing how/where other people live and things like that.
My blog is also more of a life blog. I do talk about running on days that I run. Occasionally I post a good recipe, but most of the time it's just the nonsense that is my life. I enjoy writing, it's fun. Sometimes I have absolutely nothing to say so I don't.
Also, like Lisa said, commenting on other peoples blogs is a really good way to build up your readers.
When I read blogs I also read a lot of the comments and sometimes if the comment is particulary funny, or interesting I'll check out that commenters blog as well. I know this is how I get some of my readers
