I just signed up yesterday and I think this is going to be amazing! ![]()
In under 15 minutes I signed up and had my first menu and grocery list printed and already checked off the things I had on hand. I think the recipes look tasty and super easy to make so far. I am so excited to make my first meal!
I used to spend hours trying to plan and decide on different recipes to make, this is going to save me so much time that I can spend on things that are more enjoyable to me.
It is a subscriber based service, $5/mo billed every 3 months. I googled for a coupon code before I checked out and saved $2.50 off the first 3 months by using the code 'Dave'.
I am not being paid one cent for this, I am ecstatic about not having to plan, plan, plan and I wanted to share what I found.
Re: Anyone else do E-Mealz?
I signed up for it at one point, and found it a complete waste.
I had signed up for the vegetarian meal plan, and my first week, there was only one actual recipe. Everything else was pretty much, "Go to the store, select a meatless version of some item (ie hot dogs) from the freezer case and heat according to package directions"
It was ridiculous - I'm not going to pay someone to tell me how to pick something out of the freezer case.
Of course the 'sample' menu they posted for the vegetarian menu had a bunch of different recipes/meal ideas.
We tried out the menus for the 3 months we already paid for, and ended up with 2 or 3 meals we would actually eat again. Everything else was disgusting or straight from the freezer case.
Maybe the 'standard' meal plan is worth it, but I found the vegetarian one to be a waste. (also, they claim to be affordable, but I spent $40 at Cub just buying the ingredients for one dinner)
A Little Bird and a Monkey Butt
We do! We've been using it since late June I believe? It is an absolute life saver! We were spending roughly $100-150/wk on groceries for just the three of us and are now paying $50 or less a week. Money in the bank!
We do the Aldi plan and have been happy with it so far. Some weeks we tweak the plan a bit and may adlib in a meal from previous weeks, but those are few and far between.
DH was a little skeptical and I felt a little defeated in meal planning by having someone else to the work, but it's one of our best decisions this year!
