A friend had a baby a few months ago, I was planning on buying the baby a christmas gift. The issue is she also has a 16 year old daughter who I have met a few times before but really don't know, do I need to get her a gift too? We will likely see them at our house on Christmas Eve, and the older daughter will not be there. We have never bought each other's kids gifts before.

If she was going to be there, I'd say def yes, but since she's not.. I think it's a judgment call. If it was me, I'd probably get one .. something small... $15 target or itunes giftcard or something.
I have a similar problem w/ my nieces. My BIL has 1 kid by his wife who is like 7. He has 2 step-kids that are 17 and 20. I wonder how long I'm obligated to buy for the older ones while I'm still buying for the younger one.
I already bought her a new baby present.
I just hope it isn't awkward and she doesn't now feel the need to buy my son something.
