Awake yet??

Come on guys, I'm bored and lonely over here in the opposite time zone! Let's chat!

I had a traumatic evening tonight (for a drama queen). One of these dudes crawled across my floor: image

Of course DH is out of town this week, so I spent an hour crying (literally), hovering in a corner, and debating whether or not I should go to a hotel for the next couple days until DH is back before gathering the courage to attack him with a roll of wrapping paper. Then I had three beers and moved all the furniture to make sure there were no more hiding. I hate that I'm such a wuss with the creepy crawlies. It's really bad.

Anyway, it's Friday! Anything exciting going on this weekend?

Re: Awake yet??

  • I'm up and if I saw that thing, I would have screamed so loud the neighbors would have called the police. Lord WTF is that thing? Some Japanese killer catepillar? I am so phobic of insects, my husband gets really irritated with me. Thankfully he is the opposite but if he was not home, EEEEEK! you are way braver than I am . He puts a cup over it and analyzes it with a magnifying class to see what it is and if it's harmful etc. How big was that fvcker?

Anyway, no plans here, just hanging with the baby :) What about you?

  • Google tells me it's a "common" house centipede. Common enough to give me anxiety for the rest of my time here! It wasn't THAT big, maybe 3 inches long? But it was FAST. I happened to be on Skype with C as this was all going down and he was completely annoyed by my reaction. If you don't have the phobia, I guess it's hard to understand the paralyzing fear.

I have no real plans other than to finish Xmas shopping for DH while he's gone and finish decorating the house.

I've been lurking on the baby board- I'm guessing E didn't sleep as late today as she did yesterday?

  • OMG, I used to get those in my apt in Georgia. Someone told me they were silver fish. The ones I had could craw on the ceiling! They freaked me out.
  • I'm awake, I'm awake!  :)

Dude, that things is NASTY looking. I am just like you though, major wuss with bugs. I have been known to have some freak outs about bugs discovered while DH was gone. Of course, being that he's a biologist, even when he is here, he's not very sympathetic  :P

  • That is a scary looking bug - definitely worth your reaction!

'm the one that kills bugs in our house and that sucker would have had me jumping on the couch to get away from it!

We're up - C is having breakfast while I check email/nest/etc and we're listening to the Pandora Glee station.

That hideous thing posted above is definitely not a silverfish! We had silverfish in my old condo and our old rental (thankfully we haven't had any in our new house!) Silverfish are nowhere near as scary as that thing is, IMO!

    Silverfish look like this:

  • Three inches???? Omg, puke. Good for you for taking care of it, even if you needed three beers, lol. I would put a pot over it and a brick on top and wait for Cory to get home and deal with it. I hate bugs too. But I hate to kill things too. So happy I married a man who doesn't mind taking critters outside and letting them free.

  • I have slept on the couch before because I couldn't smash a spider that I found in my bedroom. True story. I'm sorry that you had that creepy crawly in your house!

  • Ew, that would creep me out, too. And I'm not that skittish about bugs (except cockroaches). Silverfish are usually small but they are creepy because they are so slimy looking. They like to hang out inside books (and ruin them).
  • Yeah, it was totally disgusting. I've been crazy paranoid and scanning the floors constantly since last night. *shudder*

Glad I'm not the only one who reacts strongly to these kinds of critters!

Haha, no she did not. But I get up early (5am) either way to get ready for work since I never know what she is going to do.  I can't be going to work with ratty looking hair. Or doing much of anything else for that matter!
