Christmas present idea help needed
On my Mom's side of the family the adults do an exchange, the men bring guy gifts and the women bring female gifts. Its usually pretty easy to come up with the female gift- a decoration, bath/body set, candles, etc.
Its a little more difficult for the guys though and if anyone can think of anything I would appreciate the ideas. Usually I left this up to DH to think of his own but this year my son is now in the adult exchange too. For food ideas I need to keep in mind that one uncle is diabetic and one needs gluten free. Clothes really don't work because the guys range in size from M-XXL and you don't know who will get the gift.

Hmmm...
Maybe something practical like a shaving kit
A DVD of a manly movie or sports show or something
A GC to Best Buy or a gadget type of store
I say for men you can never go wrong with some kind of tool set. Maybe a fleece jacket and go with a XL because jackets can always be alittle big (Old Navy has some for like 15 $). After shave kit (with shaving cream, after shave, and lotion). Thermal Socks (depending on your area). Gift card to some kinf of "man" store (academy, walmart, golf galaxy, sears, etc.)
Agreed w/ GCs to places like Lowe's, Home Depot, Sears
I like to go to Brookstone and see what they have in my price range, they usually have little gadgety things that work. I've gotten a small roadside emergency kit, a nice keychain laser pointer, a wriststrap thing that holds nuts/bolts/nails handy, etc. I usually have a person in mind, though, and not all of those are as universal I guess. My point is that it's a good place to browse around.
Winter hat/scarf
Slippers
Multitool (like a Leatherman or Swiss Army knife)
No offense, but I hate getting these as gifts. Unless you know what products a particular person likes, I think they're extremely impersonal and I usually gag at the scents. In an exchange situation, it's unlikely you can pick something that everyone will like (or, not hate). Plus I get so many that I have to throw them away.
I'm really not trying to be rude, just suggesting that maybe you might want to think out of the box a little. Especially since I can pretty much guarantee that at least one other person will bring a similar gift.
Laura, I understand what you are saying and do think about that. We have been doing this generic exchange for almost 10 years now. Last year I went with a gas station gc, Applebees gc and box of chocolates. I was not excited last year when I opened my gift and it was a new razor, shaving cream and in shower lotion.
I agree. I specifically told H NOT to get me one of those gift sets for Christmas.
You can't go wrong with gift cards.
See, this sounds good to me! As a matter of fact, I think that that would work for the guy too (without the chocolates because of the dietary restrictions - maybe a bag of cashews?). It seems like you know what's up
