Anyone want to buy my Jetta?

:)

But seriously, I'm going to attempt to sell my '07 Jetta on Craigslist. Do you guys have any tips on getting it sold? I've never sold a car before. I'm not sure I'll get any bites since it's worth 12k and that's pretty high for private sales.

Re: Anyone want to buy my Jetta?

  • Sure.  You pay for shipping.  Lol.

I sold a car on Craig's List but it was a beater.  I was shocked at the response.  I asked and got $1500 for it.  Apparently, I should have asked for more.  I had dozens of calls and it sold the day after listing.

This is similar to my experience. One thing I did to prepare for selling it was to have all the maintenance records organized and ready, I washed the car and filled it up with gas before the first buyer came to see it. I think just being upfront about everything is helpful too, and posting good pictures of it. One thing that annoys me on CL ads is when people don't post much information about what they're trying to sell - I don't want to waste my time emailing them to find out info I think would be obvious to just post in the ad in the first place.  Also, know the blue book value and maybe even have a printout from a reliable website that estimates your car's value (like http://www.kbb.com/). Good luck!!
