So I don't know if you guys know, but I have had a crappy year. In May I found out my 12 yr old son had a golf ball size tumor in his jawbone. Fast forward to June and we have the surgery scheduled and we are preparing to go in when I find out my dad passed away. nobody told me he was sick and I found out about his death from someone I've never really talk to. She called because I was on the planning committee for my family reunion. So my son goes in and they remove his tumor and wire his jaw shut. For those of you with kids (furry and human) you know how hard it is to watch your children go through pain. It broke me down. Then in August we go in for them to remove the infected bone and put in a steel plate to hold his jaw together. While in the hospital he becomes terrified and although he is telling us he's not in pain, he is and his blood pressure spikes up really high. 3 days later we go home and he would eventually lose like 30 pounds because again his mouth is wired shut. drinking nothing but protein shakes.
Finally he gets the wires off and he is all slim and we prepare once again to go into surgery so they can do a bone graft to replace the missing bone in his jaw. Go to the dr's today and they x-ray his mouth and there is a bone there along side the metal plate. The dr gets excited and starts shouting at his PA to come look and for the other nurses to call Baptist to scedule a CT scan so he can have a better look.
The good new is they think the only other surgey he has to have is to take the metal plate out if his jaw and will only have to come back for checkups...They are trying to contact Baptist CT dept to get us in ASAP. So please keep us in your prayers and I will let you all know what happens.
