Where do you grocery shop?
Do you use coupons there?
Re: Grocery Store
I go to Crest or Super Target for my biweekly trips. I'll hit WalMart if I'm in a pinch, since there's one 2 minutes from me and another on my drive home from work.
I don't use coupons.
I know I should...
I do the bulk of my shopping once a month at Crest and Aldi. I buy dairy products at Braum's and will buy produce in between my big trips at Homeland, usually, or sometimes Buy 4 Less. Once we move out of Yukon, I will probably shop pretty much all at Crest, Aldi and Braum's.
I don't use coupons because there are very few coupons available for the stuff we typically buy, and when there are it's usually steal cheaper to get the generic brands from Aldi.
I do most of my shopping at Homeland and Braum's as well. I don't generally use coupons either for the same reason critti listed.
One of my goals is to join a food co-op once I'm out of school. I keep looking at their website and I'm just amazed at all of the available products.
Which one are you looking at? I've been wanting to join one of the produce co-ops, but all of the ones near us require buying a share every two weeks. We couldn't really afford that, nor would we probably use the majority of the produce before it went bad.
We also get all our dairy products at Braum's.
I'm all over the board.
I get most of our dry goods and some convenience foods 3x/year at Trader Joes (super stocking up.) The rest of the time I split between SuperTarget and the Homeland by my house (definitely not the other Homeland in town).
During season, I go to the farm stand near my house at least once a week (or the larger farmer's market if I need.)
I sprinkle in Crest, Braums, Gourmet Gallery, Crescent Market, Forward Foods, Mediterranean Deli and Imports, and Bill Kamps in when I need something special or happen to be in those parts of town.
I do try to use coupons on things like toothpaste, toilet paper, and batteries, but normally I get that stuff at Walgreens.
You'd think I live in the grocery store, but I work from home a good deal of the time and I need to get out and interact with other adults at least once a day, including on the weekends when DH is working.
Plus, I feel guilty sometimes spending money on clothes and house decor., but I never feel badly about spending money on food (since I know we'll find a way to use it) so it grocery shopping scratches my spending itch.
We do our grocery shopping at homeland because they are - wait for it - a thunder sponsor (are you surprised??).
As far as coupons...one of my coworkers is a coupon freak and kind of "taught" me how she does the whole coupon thing..no thank you!! For one thing, she must not realize how valuable her time is worth because she spends waaaaaaay more time coupon shopping than she should. Further, we eat because we like it, not to live, so I am not going to eat something just because it is on sale. And lastly, we buther our own cows, so we don't pay for meat at the grocery store.
I usually shop at crest but if crest is crowded I go across the street to walmart. But there are days where I need non food items (toilet paper, paper towels etc) I just shop at walmart for all my stuff.
Wal-Mart. It's all we really have in Stillwater...I mean, we have other stores, but they're not as cheap as Wal-Mart [cannot WAIT for Target though, if it even opens before I leave]. Used to get milk from Braum's, but JJ doesn't like their milk - hope to try it again now that he's older. I've started shopping at Walgreens too, surprisingly enough. They have some good deals and great coupons. My bulk stuff [like diapers and paper towels] I get at Sam's.
When I come to Lawton, I shop at the Commissary on post. It's SO much cheaper than shopping off post. If I lived in OKC, I'd exclusively shop at Tinker. I can't wait to get to Colorado - H has told me their Commissary is massive. So excited.
I used to use coupons, quit, and now use them religiously. It's like a game to me - I don't save as much as I would like, but I can usually save $15-$30 in one grocery trip.
We usually go to Homeland. Sometimes we'll stop by Crest to get a few things since there's one right by our house.
We use coupons when we have time to find some. Homeland doubles all coupons that are $1 or less (unless the coupon says "Do Not Double"). We're wanting to go to a coupon class sometime soon.

Haha, would this happen to be the co-worker that is married to my H's co-worker? DH always talks about their couponing and how into they are. I think it's making H want to be more of a coupon user.

Little late on this one....
We shop at Target and Homeland. I'll hit up Wal-Mart if I am in a hurry and only need things like milk, eggs, bread, or baby wipes. I print off coupons from target.com so that makes it super easy to shop there.
Homeland, our local meat market (it is amazing), and Wal-Mart for paper goods and packaged things, usually.
I don't coupon. I am conscious of prices at the store, and buy store brands on things that don't matter too much (pasta, canned veggies, chips, cream cheese, etc)
Whoops! That is her! She said they spend three - four hours a week cutting coupons - Yikes! I love to hear her coupon stories every week but it does seem like they are spending more by coupon shopping than if they just bought what they needed - for instance, she said they won't have to buy toothpaste for another year. Is she really saving that much to have 15 tubes of toothpaste laying around?
Don't worry, I don't even know her so you didn't offend me haha. It does seem crazy. DH says they only buy things that have coupons, even if they don't usually eat it. I think I'm too picky to do that. I don't want to plan my meals according to what coupons I have, I want to plan my meals according to what I want lol. I know they save a ton of money though, I wish I wasn't so picky!
