Divinity

3 cups sugar

? cup corn syrup

? cup of water

3 egg whites (beaten stiff)

1 cup of nuts (pecans)

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Combine sugar, corn syrup and water. Boil about 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, drop a little of the mixture in a bowl of cold water. It should form into a hard ball. If it doesn?t, then cook for longer. Keep testing until you get it to form a hard ball.

Beat egg whites stiff. Pour the syrup in w/ the egg whites. Beat it a while. Then add in nuts and vanilla.

Drop spoonfuls of mixture onto wax paper until hardened.

Secret is to get the syrup cooked just to the right stage.

Re: Granny's candy recipes

  • i have no idea why all that code pasted in with it. It doesn't show up when I go to edit so I can't get it out. sorry!
  • I don't know why I thought the Divinity recipe seemed so difficult to make, it sounds easy enough!  Thanks so much Lauren for posting the recipes :)  Im going to make my Mom and Grandma a small box of them for Christmas.
  • If you are going to make divinity you have to make sure the temperature outside is good. Sometimes it will not form if it has rained recently.
Who let the dawgs out? image
