Working Green Card App.

To remove conditions from my conditional Green Card. Hopefully I can get all the evidence together and out this week! I plan to email my lawyer tonight so I can hopefully get an answer tomorrow as to whether my evidence is sufficient. Hoping this goes smoothly and then I'll have one more year until I can apply for Naturalization and be done with all this!

  • It's an exhausting process that I can't even fathom having to go through. Good luck with everything and keep us posted!

Luckily since I have my GC already and am applying for the 10 year card it isn't as brutal this time. It still sucks I have to go for biometrics (fingerprints) and most likely an interview again.

    Thanks HR!

  • Is your DH not a US citizen?  If he is, I thought getting married made all that stuff easier?

Then again, I don't really know anything about it, so it's quite possible I sound like a complete @$$ here! =)

He is. I'm not. I'm a sneaky Canadian. We had our civil ceremony 10/2008 in order to start the process. I never really talked about it b/c I got flamed on TK (before I met you girls!). I have a conditional Green Card (got it 03/2009) but you have to apply to have the conditions removed (90 days before your 2 year GC anniversary) and then you get a Green Card that's good for 10 years. Crazy, crazy process; but it'll be over soon. Once I get the conditions removed, I can apply for Naturalization after another year I think. Then I'll be a citizen, and get to vote and do all that other important stuff!

  • That sounds like a huge pain the a$$!

I knew you had a civil before your wedding, but I didn't realize it was in 2008 and you've been married for two years already.  Crazy!  I've always wondered, in situations like that do you consider the date of your civil your anniversary or the date of your wedding?  Or do you just celebrate both?

DH considers May 30th the actual date. I told him I'd like to acknowledge our Oct date too. So on Oct 28th we shook hands to acknowledge the date! haha My mom sent us an anniversary card. The year before I bought DH a couple treats.
