Re: Since the fave Christmas movie post was a hit...
NOOOO!!!!! I love Christmas, just can't listen to Christmas music because I'm scarred from working retail during the holidays...lol.
My favorite would have to be Silent Night. I always get emotional when I hear it.
Santa Baby. It's like my personal Christmas theme song.
Green Christmas by Barenaked Ladies
All I Want for Christmas by Mariah Carey
A New York Christmas by Rob Thomas
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays by NSync
This whole list! You have excellent taste in music!
I love a lot of TSO's renditions of Christmas songs, especially the Carol of the Bells. I also love Carol of the Bells performed by a live choir.
Other favorites include "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas", "Winter Wonderland" (both I think Bing Crosby?), and "Baby, It's Cold Outside". I don't know who sings the original, but I love it in 'Elf' and on the soundtrack, it's Zooey Daschenel (sp?) and Leon Redbone. I also like "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas", but only in small doses and I have no idea who sings it.
"Santa Baby" makes me want to kick a puppy - I will leave a store if it's playing. I used to like Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You" but then the guy across the hall my freshman year in college played in on repeat for hours and kind of killed it for me. That guy sucked.
Always Loved- Do You Hear What I Hear...
98 degrees's This Gift
Fall Out Boy's Yule Shoot Your Eye Out
and the Glee Christmas album is pretty good!
I'm with Kath-- O Holy Night gets me EVERY year!! Especially by Josh Groban or Mariah Carey. Additionally I like "miss you most, at Christmas time" by her too
)
"This Christmas" by Chris Brown,
"Little Dummer Boy" by Bing Crosby and David Bowie,
"What Child is This?" by any choir anywhere
"Hallelujah Chorus" again-- by any choir
)
"Where Are you Christmas" from the Grinch Soundtrack-- I think Faith Hill does it
"Mr Grinch" by Busta Rhymes and Jim Carey (this one is fun!)
I'm also a fan of the Straight No Chaser "12 Days of Christmas"
and what list would be complete without "The Hanukkah song" by Adam Sandler ;oP
is this too overboard?
Datsyuks & Ferdy- We Go Together Like...
I forgot about "Do You Hear What I Hear" - I love that one too.
And I lurv the Hanukkah song - it's on my iPod, so I don't even think of it as a holiday song any more!
This until I ran across my *NSYNC Christmas CD that I played on repeat yesterday and Jeremy finally turned it off. BUT I couldn't find any newer ones with the move but I was still happy!
Yes to ALL of the above (except I've never heard the NSync song, I'll have to download it). O Holy Night and Silent Night really get me too. I also love Carol of the Bells by Destiny's Child (Beyonce voice is hauntingly beautiful). And the Temptations Christmas Album brings me happy childhood memories.
What's that kind of new one, Christmas Shoes? That's amazing too...
LOL this song is like ten years old, I think! But it used to make me cry every time I heard it.
That's crazy! I think I heard it for the first time the year before last! I generally make my own Christmas CDs and don't listen to the 24-7 from T-giving until NYE Christmas stations. Maybe I'd better switch it up!
Mad Russian Christmas - Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Oh Holy Night - Josh Groban
My Grown Up Christmas List - Kelly Clarkson
Mary Did you Know - Kenny Rogers & Whynonna Judd
Blue Christmas - Elvis
Do You Hear What I Hear - Bing Crosby
Feliz Navidad - Jose Feliciano
Silver Bells - Johnny Mathis
Little Drummer Boy - Bing Crosy
Sleigh Ride - Bostom Pops (orchestral)
Let it Snow - Frank Sinatra
I actually really like the clay aiken version of mary did you know-- I'm probly alone on that - but I dont' mind
