Good Morning!

It's Monday, but luckily I still have some Christmas spirit left over from the weekend!  DH and I got our tree and decorated the house, and I made my almond shortbread Christmas cookies to bring in to work today.  Of course, DH and I made sure we got our fair share too!

Saturday night we went to a party at my friend's house, which was fun, but we were the only married couple there (again!)  Blah.  It's tough because most of our friends who are couples live in NYC, and the majority of our friends who live by us are single.  Oh well.

Today, I am sitting at work already PUMPED for the Patriots / Jets game tonight!  GO PATS!!!!!

What's going on with everyone?  Let's get some holiday cheer going on this board!

Re: Good Morning!

  • Happy Monday, boo hiss.

Did nothing exciting this weekend except decorate the tree and house and put lights up outside.  Having a party on Friday and wanted the holiday cheer to show.  Also had a big fight w/ my mom.  She's pissed b/c I don't know the plan for Christmas yet (with DH and ILs).  She makes me so mad sometimes.  I have no plans to reconcile and already returned some of her gifts.

On a happier note, I watched all the HPs this weekend, except the most recent.  I do love the marathons.

Generally I'm just a crabby patty this morning.  Need coffee stat....

  • I got most of my Christmas shopping done this weekend. H and I still need to buy for some people, but we're waiting until we fly down to NC (on the 23rd!!!!!) so we don't have to check any luggage. (btw, this is driving me INSANE! I am kind of a control freak (my wedding was done with planning at like a year out) and I am dying that we can't cross "Christmas Shopping" off the list. granted it's all of three people but whatever. /rant)

I broke out my mixer on Saturday night and made some peanut butter blossoms and the equivalent but with chocolate cookies and hugs. First time I'd ever used a kitchen aid mixer for cooking. (there was an industrial sized one at a soils lab I worked at and I used it to hydrate dirt) OMG, that thing is fricken' awesome. I can churn out cookies like nobody's business!

On Sunday, the hubs and I put up the Christmas lights and I decorated the tree (that is not a pine tree) in front of the house. So our house is all pretty!

I had a dentist appointment at 8AM this morning. Everything was great, thanks to my sonicare toothbrush! I love that mofo.

One of our international liasons is coming to the office for a week this week (I think) and he's one of the people I work with a lot but have never met. I'm kinda nervous/excited. I'll probably be expected to go to a lot of after work "events" so this week is potentially very busy.

So yeah, that's my long ass blurb about nothing really. Good morning everyone!

  • Happy St Nick day!  I know this isn't celebrated much here in the states but since I spent some time in Germany it is a tradition that I brought home with me.  For the last 7 years while DH and I were dating I would always send him something, nothing big just candy or a little stuffed Christmas animal.  This morning when I told him to check his stocking his eyes got big and a small look of panic crossed his face.  "No, St Nick comes tonight!"  I corrected him and said that he comes on the eve of the 6th.  I have a feeling that he wanted to surprise me with something, maybe I will get a surprise in my stocking when I come home tonight.

  • We didn't do much this weekend.  I wrapped the few gifts that came at the end of the week, and we're still waiting on one.  I'm planning on shipping them out at the end of the week or maybe next Monday.  Yesterday we went to my aunt and uncle's house - they made YUMMY white chicken chili and I brought cornbread.  I was so excited to use my new cast iron skillet, only to realize it's a 12-in and the recipe was for an 8-in, after pouring in the batter.  So it was more like a corn-pancake.  But still good, and I made honey butter to go along with it.  We got to read some stories to my nearly-4-y.o. cousin at bedtime, which was really sweet.

I'm also irrationally annoyed, because they gave me an ornament that my mom had given them to give to me.  A couple of years ago my mom tried to give me this same ornament and I told her then, 'this is not my ornament, this is my sister's.'  We had two fairy ornaments for our tree, that are very different, and mine is very special to me.  When my aunt handed me the box I was excited that I was finally getting my ornament - but nope, it's the same freaking one as before.  I shouldn't let it bother me so much, but it's just another example of how little thought my mom puts into anything having to do with her children.  Like how she always forgets that I'm allergic to pseudophedrine, even though I almost died and she had to rush me to the hospital when I took a large prescription dose of it in 8th grade. Seriously, every time I go home to visit and have a little sniffle, she says, "Oh! Here's some Sudafed!'"  I think she's trying to kill me.

Sorry about the grumpiness.  Anyway, this is a short week for me because Jeff is getting knee surgery on Thursday, and I'm most likely going to stay home with him on Friday as well.  We're a little nervous about the surgery, but I'm sure it will be fine and overall I'm glad he's finally getting it because ever since he injured it he's been having trouble with it, and it's been getting a lot worse lately.

  • Laura -  good luck to your DH with his surgery!  Is it orthoscopic surgery?  I had orthoscopic surgery on my knee in 10th grade and was up walking on it (with crutches) the same day.

    p.s.  I got your e-mail - thank you!

  • Good Morning! We moved and unpacked all weekend and still have tons to do. The kitchen and living room are pretty much done..yay. The bedrooms...not so much. The Christmas tree is up and decorated and all that jazz.

I could've killed Jeremy this morning because HE washed some sheets and I made a comment about how I folded all the towels, sheets, and whatever else I had washed earlier and he said he would but what do I trip over this morning, the ddamn sheets. Blah.

Plus I have a 10-15 minute longer drive now with the move and thought I was going to be late because I'm not used to to the new time but I made it on time. Thank goodness.

  • So, it sounds like we don't have very much holiday cheer. haha On Friday I went with my mom to PF Changs (she treated!) and then we went back to her house to bake some stuff for her to take to some of her stores to give to the employees.

Then Saturday I cleaned during the day and then that evening my BIL and soon the be SIL came over and we had pizza and beer and watch the newest twilight that just came out on blue ray.

Then sunday me and H got up and went to eat breakfast then to the mall for some x-mas shopping, we really didn't get much accpomplished just a non stick fry pan for his mom and then he bought me some new Nike Shox for part of my early Christmas present. Then he bought himself a new jacket that was normally 70 dollar but got it for 45 so he was happy. Then we went home but I have been out of my asthma medicine for 2 days now and it was starting to get hard to breath so I had to go to my moms house to use her inhalers until I can get some more today. Then since we were on that side of town we had to stop by my dads house then ofcourse we had to stop by his parents house. Then home finally by 8:30 last night.

  • Spent the weekend decorating and unpacking/settling.  DH & I spent about 2 hours in BB&B getting the remaining items off our registry that we wanted.  We saved $90 with our 20% off entire purchase coupon (so it disgusts me how much $$ we actually spent!).  But we needed new sheets and new fixtures (towel bar, shelving, etc) for the bathroom and it looks awesome now that it's all in...except for the holes from the old stuff that need to be plugged/painted.  And I'm so happy to NOT be living with boxes everywhere.

We also picked/cut/set up our Christmas tree, although it's still NAKED!  Will try to get into the spirit tonight with decorating and cookie baking.

On a super happy note, I felt the Jelly Bean kicking for the first time this morning.  Like a genuine, without-a-doubt kick, not just gas or upset stomach.  Of course, the bulls-eye was my bladder, but yay for it anyway!

  • Morning all! I am up and around this morning at home (getting tired of not getting sub jobs, but that's the Christmas season for ya). *sigh* I really hope something else comes out of the woodwork soon, cause I'll jump at it.

As far as the weekend. I worked Friday night and Saturday 12-close, so I got home and did a few chores then got all comfy in my craft room and worked on scrapbook catch up on Sat night while the hubs played cards with a few friends. I am SO exciting.

Sunday was time together, so we went to pick/cut/setup our tree in the morning and decorated after dinner. Otherwise we really did a whole lot of nothin'. Glorious.

Laura, I had knee surgery about 8 years ago. Replaced my ACL. Recovery with physical therapy sucked, and I have a killer scar, but for the most part it is normal. GL to your hubby. :)

  • Jeff is getting ACL and meniscus surgery, I don't know all of the details.  They aren't sure if they are just scraping out the meniscus or repairing it, they will decide when they get in there. I know the recovery will suck, but I'm not worried about that - he's a high-risk patient though because he has a blood clotting disease, which is why they opted not to do the ACL surgery when he tore it in 2001.

  • Happy Monday!  Aren't Monday's just fantastic!

The weekend went by waaay to fast.  This weekend we decorated our Christmas tree.  We just cleaned house and watched the Raiders kick the Chargers a$$.  It's so nice when the underdog goes into the home teams territory and wipes the floor with them.  It was REALLY nice to actually see the game, since most Raider games are blacked out...sigh.

I also tested a thumprint cookie recipe and yum, were those cookies good.

Also, GO JETS!!  Sorry CityGirl, but as a Raider fan I root for any team the Patriots play against!

Quite all right lol.  DH is a huge NY Giants and Yankees fan, while I am all about my Red Sox and Patriots.  I have someone living with me 24/7 who ALWAYS roots against my teams.  I'm used to it =)

Ohhhhhh you HAD to go there, huh? LOL.  We Bostonians / New Englanders actually love his hair right now - and I generally don't find long hair attractive on guys.  Not sure what made him grow it out - maybe Giselle told him it would look hot.  He has said that he has no plans on cutting it any time soon =)
