Stef, Angela other WWers

I've done this weight loss thing before, but am finding I need help/extra motivation to lose the last 10 - 15 I'd like to get rid of. SO,  I've jumped on board the WW train. can anyone help me with a general overview ? It says I get 29 points a day, does that seem like  a lot ? Also do I HAVE to eat my weekly points if I'm ok on my daily points ?

Any tips for a newbie woudl be helpful... I know with the new system everyone is kinda learning again... anything to share ?

Re: Stef, Angela other WWers

  • Hi there :)  The new system calculates everything based on fat, carbs, protein, and fiber (whereas before it was calories, fat, fiber).  29 is the minimum number you can get (whereas it used to be 18, I think?).  So no, 29 is a minimum for all people...it's not a lot (according to the program).  If it seems like a lot (based on your previous knowledge of ww points) that's because so many things are so many more points.  However, a lot of healthy foods are less points (i.e. a lot of fruits and veggies that had points - no longer do.  Things like apples, carrots, pears, grapes, squash...all 0 points.  Super nice!!).

You do not have to eat your weekly points...although, over time you might learn that your body needs a little more to lose (you know how people say you won't lose if you aren't eating enough?  That's true!!...if you only eat your dailies, and hit a plateau or are not losing like you think you should, try eating 10% of your weeklies, for example).   I try to keep about 75% of my weeklies left each week, but eat all of my dailies, and all of my activity points.  I often eat all of my weeklies, and have still had losses those weeks too.  My loss has been really slow (38 lbs over 10+ months now...so reeeeeally slow), but I absolutely never feel deprived and definitely don't beat myself up for eating my weeklies.  The program is designed so you can eat those points and still lose...and you will!

    Lots of luck!!  :)

  • I think Stef covered it pretty well.

The new WW program that we all just started seems to be a great "healthy" balance of fat/protein/fiber/carbs to help you eat more 'healthy' food and less 'unhealthy' food. If you follow the program, it will work for you. Slow and steady IS good. Just make yourself accountable, count everything and pick healthy options.

Also, follow their "good health guidelines" to make sure you get your balanced diet of proteins, whole grains, fruits and veggies, healthy oils, etc in. Of course, lots of water, etc. All the stuff we know but don't always do. Make it a game to "check off" those little boxes on your online eTools.

You'll rock it, I know. You've done so great thus far. Hopefully this is that kick you need to finally get down to that goal weight. GL! If you have any more questions, let me know. :)

  • Oh, and always a good motivator for me is that if I pick good/healthy stuff I get to eat more food. YAY. Nothing worse than having like 2 bites of something unhealthy and blowing everything in those 2 bites. I'd rather have a massive bowl of something healthy than 2 bites of something unhealthy. It's all about portion control and choosing the right foods.

    :)
