Dump Cake

Hi ladies!  I have made this for years.  I've used every flavor of pie filling you can think of, applesauce (chunky and regular), other fruit sauces, and the shredded pineapple (REALLY drained).  I've also used yellow cake mix, spice cake mix, chocolate (with the cherry pie filling), and lemon (with blueberry pie filling).

Dump Cake

Grease a 9x13 pan.  Dump in 2 regular size cans of applesauce.  Spread one box of yellow cake mix on top. (I break up any big clumps with my fingers and spread it around evenly.)  Melt 2 sticks of butter (not margarine, low fat, or whipped) and pour it evenly over the cake mix.  Do not stir!  Bake at 350 for one hour or until golden brown.

If you'd like some extra crunch, you can mix 1 1/2 cups of chopped nuts into the cake mix before you spread it around.

You can also make a small version, but you need to be able to find the Jiffy brand tiny boxes of yellow cake mix.  Use an 8x8 greased pan, one can of applesauce, and one stick of melted butted.  Everything else is the same.

This stuff is NOT diet friendly...very rich and buttery.  Awesome warm with whipped cream or ice cream.  I eat it a spoon at a time  :)

My baby girl is a married woman...and now my baby girl HAS a baby girl. Time unfolds in such an amazing way. I've been blessed!
