What does OCt 08 think of.. (br)
The name Declan? (Deck lan, not De Clan) It's our first choice name for a boy, as of right now.... Declan Ellis M___
Basically, I just want to make sure a majority of people don't associate the name with something bad/odd. Like Cooper I associate (as do a lot of people I know) with a dog's name. And Adolf... well.. that one kind speaks for itself.
Sooo what do you think?
My overly happy baby girl!

So the name is Deckian, not Declan the normal pronunciation?
Is there another way to spell it to show that it's not the historical pronunciation?
Sorry I think I'm more sensitive to names b/c growing up with a Hebrew name with Shania Twain on the radio, I think I can count on one hand the number of people that pronounce my name correctly.

I think it would be Deck Lan rather than Dee Clan.
Personally it's NMS, but it is not a horrible name as some I've seen. I would prefer the traditional pronunciation. he will have his name mispronounced a lot.

Oh maybe in Mar's post I mis-understood the capitalization? I thought it was an I not an L?
Wives Unscripted
yes it's and L not an i. Fingers wrote too fast missed the shift button, sorry.
And we would be pronouncing it as Deck Lan. We do realize that there will be people who pronounce it incorrectly, we're not worried about that. It's easy enough to correct them, although it will become frustrating to the child.

Well, it doesn't really matter now... Dh just thought of "dicklin' " as a nickname for it, so now it's been vetoed.
Now he's debating Connell Ellis
...I'm starting to hope it's a girl, we have our girl names picked out no problem. lol

lmao. Thanks for the laugh Damian!
I like Connell better than Declan. Ellis was my fathers mn, and what his family called him since he was a jr.
(ps, we're hoping to get down that way next week!)

My cousin has a 2yr named Declan pronounced like you would. It has definitely grown on me.
I like Owen too, I used to have the biggest crush on a guy name Owen in HS. He was a fantastic guitar player =p
