I was doing laundry the other day and carelessly picked up a brand new dark purple jacket and threw it in with my other laundry by accident. I washed the cycle with cold water, then I threw them in the dryer still not realizing the jacket was in there. Well, I now have 4 other shirts that have pinkish purple splotches on them. Luckily, they're nothing really nice...just hoodies, but I'm still bummed and it's freezing cold here so I need comfy sweatshirts.
2 hoodies are white, 1 is cream, and 1 is pale yellow. I can't necessarily use bleach even on the white ones because there are colored words. Is there any way to treat this mess and get these stains out? Any ideas? Or am I just SOL?
Re: I accidentally dyed my shirts :-(
I did something similar:
My diabetic kitty peed on a pile of "delicate" laundry I had on the floor in the basement (if you don't know - cat pee is the WORST smell, and tricky to clean out!) so I threw everything in the washer on "Sanitary" cycle and hoped for the best.
A few items changed colors a little; I had a cream-colored Banana Republic cardigan that's now a light grey, and a light-pink cardigan from Target that's now kind of a weird pink/purple/grey.
I don't know if rewashing them on their own would do any good. Oh well. At least I got the smell out of them - if they stunk, I wouldn't be able to wear them period!!!
Good luck with your laundry!
