Best Vacuum For People with Pets...

We already have a vacuum that is made for pets bc we have a cat and a dog...but there are days that no matter how many times I go over the excess litter on the floor (since we have it in a closet with a pet window) doesn't all pick up.

Re: Best Vacuum For People with Pets...

  • Believe it or not I'm really pleased with my little shark vacuume!  I have two Aussies (60 lb semi-long haired dogs) and it cleans every bit of hair and is bagless.

  • Does the shark work for dog hair on solid floors (we have hardwood and tile)? Is it loud?  I need something better than a broom!

  • We have the Dyson Animal Ball and I love it.  It picks up pet hair so well and also kitty litter.  It is great on tile and hardwoods because it has the ability to turn off the rotating brush in the front (which would just scatter everything).

You can usually find pretty good sales on it at Target and Bed Bath and Beyond every now and then.  Also, watch woot.com they seem to have it on sale about once a month.

  • Hands down go with the Dyson Pet products.  I have the vacuum and the handheld.  I'll never go back.
  • I have the Dyson All Floors (DC25).  It has the same suction as the Animal Ball, just one or two less attachments.  Its amazing....Sears just had them on sale for $383 online, they may still be on sale.

  • I have the Dyson Animal (not the one with the ball...next step up) and we love it.  It is actually on sale this weekend at Target I think....actually only until tonight and it was on sale at Best Buy.  I highly recommend it

I have 2 beagles and dark wood floors (the white hairs: horror!) and I love my shark too.  It was $40 at Target.  It's hand-held and it won't get every hair out from the rugs but I like to pick it up for a quick 5 minute vacuum everyday...it really helps me stay on top of the hair and keeps me sane!  It isn't too loud, either.  I've heard lots of good things about the Dyson but I'm not ready to make the investment yet.

    A good deal!!

    Hope this helped! ; )

  • I'd love to have a Dyson, but simply for the pricetag, my fiancee bought us the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser.  It was $149 at Best Buy.

We've had it since the summer of 2008, use it once a week (at the time, we had a fully-carpeted apartment, and have since moved to a house with mostly hardwood and area rugs), and have had to replace the belt once.

We have two cats - one long-haired who sheds all the time, and one short-haired who is black, so although she doesn't shed much, it's very noticeable when she does.

The Pet Hair Eraser comes with a bunch of useful attachments (honestly, I use them all regularly).  You can use it on carpeting and switch it over to laminate or hardwood really easily.  It is a little heavy/bulky for carrying up stairs, but I liked the rubber-headed attachment so much I went out and bought the handheld Pet Hair Eraser for more easily cleaning the carpeting on the stairs and even upholstered furniture.

I always do A TON of research/comparison on items when I buy them (and even after I buy them...you can learn a lot of tips about using the product that way) and am totally confident that this was a great purchase for us, and I expect that with continued proper usage, it will continue to work well for us.

I also really like that it has the cup that you dump out, so there are no bags to replace...you can replace the HEPA filter regularly though, which is not too expensive.

*P.S. - after re-reading this, it sounds like I might work for Bissell!  LOL.  I don't, I just truly love my vacuum!
