Anyone watch the Sing-Off?
I was disappointed in some of the groups, but I'm really excited about some others. My early favorites are Groove for Thought and Committed, though I'm curious about Street Corner Symphony. I do think the Whiffenpoofs are good, but they bugged me.
I love Ben Folds.

Mabel the Loser.

I didn't watch, but the Whiffenpoofs bug me too.
I mean, Whiffenpoofs? Come on.

I found it clever and punny.
Yes, but the base phrase, *** slapped, annoys me.
"Once I got a bath bomb that, once exploded, filled the tub with confetti. Little sharp metallic pieces of confetti. The product description said nothing about confetti. Oh look, there's a tiny, sharp metallic blue star stabbing me in the labia. HOW RELAXING. " - NoisyPenguin
The old guys were terrible. Well, not all of them. Just the lead dude. The rest of the group would be better off without him. They should have gotten the boot.
I also didn't like the very first group (the high school group). You can see that the main singer/homecoming queen chick is ridiculously full of herself. In the post interview, she was going on about how Nicole had given her a compliment and you could just see the look on the arty girl's face that said, "SHUT UP about yourself already!" I have never heard a Justin Bieber song before, so I got a giggle out of the fact it was being sung by a girl.
I'm not a big fan of the Whiffenpoofs, but lordy do I love to say their name.
I thought the Lady Gaga guys were only so-so, but I'm hoping they do better at a different song.
I really liked Committed.
I don't really care for the groups where there's clearly one main singer and everybody else just sings background for them. At least switch it up a bit!

The first thing I said when I saw this group was, "I didn't know Julian Lennon was in an acappella group!"
Regarding tonight's episode -- the yellow sunglasses made the lead dude from Streetcorner Symphony look like a younger Walter from the Big Lebowski:

This post convinced me to watch it last night. I liked the Big Lebowski guy and his group (immediately knew who you were talking about) and the old, smooth guys. They had some moves.
I think I missed the first couple of performances though.

I just don't care for the old dudes. I think it's because the main guy sucks.
I was glad to see the two bands who got sent home go. I won't say who just in case people haven't seen the episode yet.

Yes, I though the right people went home. Especially the first to be eliminated. Their lead vocalist was...not great.
I really like the younger black guys too. Apparently I just like groups made entirely of black men.

Spoilers below.
I am now caught up. I like Committed. I like the Backbeats but will quickly tire of them if they keep using the same soloist. I think all the groups should be required to use multiple soloists during the course of the competition. For the two large, all-male groups, I think the Whiffenpoofs were better technically than On The Rocks and wish they could have stayed (instead of On The Rocks--stupid bracketing system) to see if they could remove the stick from their asses over time. I don't really like the old guys; it seems like they have no intention of deviating from their genre. Groove for Thought is clearly talented but jazz isn't my thing--and they're another group that needs to showcase a new soloist.
