Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
Actually... it needs to stop snowing now!! I live in the mountains and let me tell you, mountain roads suck in winter! It keeps sticking and then melting and then sticking again. I had to drive to work in it yesterday and it was scary! Then I spent the next six hours doing almost nothing because I only had like an hours worth of work to do. Today I was told not to come in, which is great, except I don't get paid.
We live a mile away from the university so Aaron walked to his final today. It was 18 degrees with the wind chill being 2, yikes! He usually takes the shuttle, but it isn't running today.
I'm supposed to babysit tonight, which sucks because they live high up on the mountain. I would cancel, but I did last night, so I am kind of stuck now. Although I am picking her up from school and not taking her home until after dinner. I was planning on taking her to the park, but it really isn't the weather for it. What should I do with a 2 year old?
Re: Snow, snow, and more snow
Do crafts! Give a two year old some paper, child friendly scissors, and glitter crayons, and they will be occupied for HOURS. I have mucho experience with kids, and I've yet to meet one that doesn't like crafts.
I used to bring a big box of old scrapbooking stuff (stamps, stickers, paper, glue, scissors that cut in different shapes, etc) and kids go WILD over it.
Were you secretly in the Babysitters Club? I never had a kid-kit... I loved those books!
I was planning on that the problem is that I don't have any of that stuff here. I usually borrow that stuff from the classroom when I am going to need it at home. I do have some crayons and a coloring book.. I am hoping that keeps her entertained for a little while. Luckily she always wants to do what I do, so I think if I color with her it will not only keep me entertained but keep her busy.
I used to have lots of cutesy stuff, but lots of it went into the storage unit when we made room for wedding stuff. I'm going to have to get that stuff out now.
LOL I loved those books too! And I do have a kid kit, I used to always bring fun stuff when I babysat - I would go to the library and check out a bunch of kids books (because as much as they love reading their own books, new books are SO FUN), I would sometimes rent an Elmo or a Dora movie, crafts, puzzles, and I have a ton of random toys here at my house or from my classroom that I would sometimes bring to play with too.
