So, i need some advise...
DH says we cant even consider babies until we figure out the health insurance issue we have. (We have none.)
Now, i am no immediate hurry - but lets face it (i kinda am...) Health insurance is OUTRAGEOUS. Can anyone give me an idea of what a "good" policy is that offers family coverage without a massive deductible? Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: decisions. decisions...
I'm sorry I don't have a lot of advice. My work only offers insurance for me...I could sign on for the family plan, but it would cost me almost $900.00 per month just for the premiums. So hubby and kids have no insurance.
I've looked into buying private insurance, but for what I actually pay annually out of pocket for everyone...it ends up costing more for the insurance.
I just pay out of pocket for their healthcare needs. Talk to doctors, and if you have no insurance, they'll often charge you at the rate they bill Medicaid...which is really reduced. I've used resources like the health department, shots-for-tots, and health fairs. And if a real emergency comes up and we have to go to ER...the hospitals are really good at working out payment plans and writing off certain fees.
The only way paying for private insurance would benefit us would be in case of a huge, disasterous event requiring long-term hospitalization. Unfortunately, we just don't have the extra money for it right now.
A big thing going on right now all across the country is a massive rise in insurance costs. Our agency's rates and quotes for the new year are all coming back with a 50% increase in rates. Not looking good for next year at all.
I'm starting a new job back at the hospital in January. They haven't given me all my paperwork to look over yet, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I will at least be able to afford the family plan.
Neither of your jobs offer any health insurance option? That stinks, but I've been there!
When we were in that situation we both just purchased individual plans through Anthem that were very basic. It was still fairly expensive, and it wouldn't really help you if you're trying to start a family.
We still have Anthem, but now through DH's employer, and I've always been very pleased, so I guess I'd consider starting there (Anthem). You should be able to get a basic quote right from their website... http://www.anthem.com/health-insurance/plans-and-benefits/health-insurance-plan/OH
I'll tell you though, it's going to be expensive no matter where you go, and it will still probably be difficult to find a plan with a low deductible.
I hope you can find something that works!!
Omg. This makes me so sad.
I dont know how we can ever afford it. Ever. Guess its time to start looking for a new job...
The medical insurance was a huge reason I looked for another job. (Ok...huge increase in pay doesn't hurt...but insurance is a really big factor! At least if their plans aren't that great...the higher pay compensates for that.)

All I have to say is I would not have a baby without health insurance... the costs are ridiculous and you never know if you'll have complications which would probably bankrupt you. We got pregnant with Sammy when we had no insurance and it caused me many panic attacks... I eventually got on a plan about halfway through my pregnancy and it saved our butts.
I can't help you with plans, though. DH and I are STILL going without health insurance at this point because paying for our own health insurance while self employed is really stinking expensive.
