Battle Creek Films - News Media Contacted Me
Hey ladies..
I'm sure some of you remember my drawn out ordeal with James from Battle Creek Films. Randomly, someone from KSTP contacted me because of a review I posted on Yelp.
James has been charged with insurance fraud. The allegation, according to KSTP, is that James filed a false report with police that he was assaulted and robbed of several cameras.
KSTP doesn't want my side of the story because I did eventually get my money back. But they do want to speak with anyone who didn't get what they paid for in dealing with James. If you are interested in talking to KSTP, contact me and I will give you the reporter's phone number.

Contact me if you want the reporter's contact info. I encourage you to do so, but I understand why someone might not want to go on record. I wish that people would - I would in a heartbeat, but I did end up getting my money back so my story is less desirable or something, at least from a news standpoint.

Is this guy still in business? If so, maybe having some of you step up and tell your story will put this guy out of business, or at least save a few other newlyweds from the hassles you went through.
It seems like his plan has been to ignore people long enough that they give up on him and he never has to provide the products he was paid for. I would be so mad if I was one of you ladies who never got footage of your wedding!
I still think Anita's story is valid ... yes, you eventually got your money back, but you still don't have video footage of your wedding. You can't go back and get that now, he screwed up and you paid the consequences, not him. Of course, if KSTP wasn't interested in that angle, there's not much you can do.

He is still in business. He just changes business names, but the text on the website is nearly word for word the same. That I am aware of, he's had 3 different companies since my wedding 2 years ago.
I agree his plan seems to ignore people until they just give up. He ignored me all of the time, even though I put read receipts on the email I sent him. We called him from different phone numbers. We sent snail mail.
He went to serious lengths and told incredible stories about why he never made it to our wedding. It started with an "I'm lost" voicemail 4 minutes before the start of our wedding ceremony, to "I was out of the country filming at the olympics" and "I showed up but you weren't there - you cancelled your wedding" and "My son is dying of cancer and we were at the hospital." The web he wove was out of this world, and I really hope that he is never able to scam another person again.
I wish there was a way I could contact the person prosecuting him for the allegations of insurance fraud, because I could provide fabulous character testimony with evidence - I recorded his voicemails, kept every email and scanned every piece of paper I have from him.

Whaaaaa? And he expected you to believe ALL of those excuses? I wonder what the REAL excuse is? He sounds legitimately mentally unsound. Big time.
I don't like to wish ill will on someone but I hope karma bites him. It sounds like he would think it would be the fault of everyone else though if he got into serious trouble... there is just no getting through to some people. Wow.
Out of curiosity - how did all of you find out about this guy? Was he referred?
It sounds like he drives one company name into the ground and the reinvents with a new name to go dupe more people?

I just remember hearing about him from someone on the knot. At the time we didn't think it was a vendor posting, but maybe it was? It was a new, someone other than Yellowtree, videographer, and he was cheap.
Anita - I remember all of this VERY well.
I wish KSTP would use your story because you have such an evident case of his fraud. Even though you finally got your money back...you can't go back and re-do your wedding day for video footage. Plus, all the stress that you went through...UGH!
I really do hope he gets what's coming to him. I can't believe he's still trying to operate a business!

OMG!!!!! I can't believe that this is what's coming up all these years later. How horrible. I think that the group of you should all do it TOGETHER -- if they were to show a quick pan of what, 6 brides? standing next to each other saying "Yep, we were all taken advantage of....", it'd certainly help get the point across.
Then again, you're not necessarily helping in the fight against him, but rather just helping the news to get a story out of it. And that probably isn't worth it.
