What is your decorating style?
Just a little? Christmas exploded in your house? Or somehwere in the middle?
Do you decorate outside?
What are you thoughts about big blow ups in the front yard?
Re: Christmas Poll #8
A somewhere in the middle. Again, OCD about it. All my lights are white.
B decorates outside. Just simple white lights around the house.
I am not a fan of the blowups. 1 is ok,but anything more than that is overkill.
A little of this and that. It mostly stays contained in the living room and dining room. I gave Alex a small dresser top tree this year too. I'd like to do more, but my house is barely decorated to the hilt usually.
We always do lights outside though. That is one of my favorites. DH is anti-blow up and so am I. They're kinda lame IMO.
Oh angi...I'm insanely jealous!!! I ike to decorate both inside and out...but in moderation. And outside...I only like white lights on my house.
But what do we have? Multi-colored. Everywhere! Icicles on the top of the house, big bulbs lining the window and our front garden, net lighting on my bushes, animated deer, a lit snowman thing, more multi-colors on the lamp post. DH even did the garage...and the back yard fence line. It's the beginnings of a Griswald X-mas and I do not like it at all!
Inisde...I took over. A tree. with white lights!
I forgot the light up candy canes lining our driveway and twinkling stars in the front garden. Uggg.....
we don't do the outside...yet. inside...we are limited on space so it's just a small fiber optic tree and some lights hanging in the window.
as for those blowups.... 1 is okay, but anymore than that and it becomes overkill. there's a house on weckerly (more towards whitehouse) that looks like the griswald house...they have lots of light up decor and tons of blowup characters. if you didn't know that they did this every year, you'd be blinded coming around the curve.
I have a TON of Christmas decor, but I haven't even found the time to pull a single thing out of the basement yet.
Normally I'd say I get about half of it out if I'm lucky. Tree, misc. knick-knacks, candles, etc. I do a wreath on the front door and greenery draped over the porch railings with lights on that and around the door. I've done lights on the bushes in the past too.
I wish I took the time to do more. My parents are so amazing with Christmas decorations! They always have beautiful, but simple outdoor displays (white lights, wreaths, etc.), and they have FOUR Christmas trees, each one themed, and the whole room coordinates with that theme. LR = Santa/Reindeer, Dining Room = Angels, Kitchen = Snowmen, FR = Mish-Mash/Family stuff. They literally even replace all of the dishes, glasses, soap dispensers, candles, clocks, etc. with Christmas stuff. They've done less since us kids moved out, but I love it so so so much!
Just a little in the house ... as for outside we decorate. We are the family w/ the stupid deer & spiral Christmas tree
) We do have 1 blow up ... and I'll be honest, I hate it and I think it's tacky! Ron insists on it and every year he says "after Christmas we will have to get some more on clearance" UGGG ... thank god we haven't!
The little kids like it though.
LOL @ the Weckerly house, kind of miss driving by that every day! That is horribly overkill. That would probably be my husband one day though.
Inside - tree only - and our tree is pretty eclectic
Outside - I put up garland and wreath and DH likes to put up as many lights as he can, I had to stop him from putting a giant inflatable on the roof this year.
I like the snowglobe ones a lot too.
I just have a tree and a ceramic cat sleeping in a christmas hat that my aunt made. I used to put lights up on just the porch but I haven't done that the past couple years. I used to have blue lights on the tree but this year I bought multi-colored.
I don't mind the inflatable things but I would never buy them myself. My mom bought me a little snowman on clearance 2 years ago and I was actually going to put it up insde today to take pics of Ella in front of it, but it doesn't work.
What is your decorating style? Simple/clean... I like plain/simple decor and only white lights.
Do you decorate outside? Yep - garland w/ white lights and red bows and a lighted wreath.
What are you thoughts about big blow ups in the front yard? Hate them.
We don't. It's not that I don't want to, but with so much unfinished in the house, it makes it kinda hard to find the time to decorate when there's so much other stuff we want/need to do. And Kitty Terrorist makes it kinda difficult. The first year we lived together, we decided we were going to do it up - got a live tree, lights decorations, etc....2-3 nights later, in the middle of the night (and quite steathily I might add) she brought it all down.
Once Baby B is here, I'm sure we'll work on the decorations. Too, by that point, most of the house projects should be (better be) done!
For our place, we have quite a lot of stuff but never have had too many places to put things, so we pick and choose and put out a handful of things.
My mom's house is a Christmas wonderland which we both totally love.
We had some stuff we put in windows at our old place, and my mom puts things on her porch and in the windows. Matt's parents do lights.
I'm okay with maybe 1 or 2 blow-ups but I've seen some yards that are totally overkill.
