I usually really enjoy buying gifts and coming up with the perfect ideas for each person but this year I literally have no ideas. I try and come up with fun things but the things I like are either a) not in our budget or b) wont work for logistical reasons. So I thought you all might has some fresh ideas. I need a gift for my brother-- I posted this originally on the bump board and got some good ideas but I just found out he wont be able to come into town this year so whatever I get him needs to be something that can be easily shipped and/or something I can purchase and have it sent to him directly.
My brother is 26, single (well has a girlfriend). He lives in Dallas and is an Engineer. His biggest hobbies are fitness (he has completed a few ironman competitions and is a triathalon trainer), health & cooking, and music (classic rock, fun local bands, etc.) He is in the process of buying his first home also. I was thinking of getting him something personalized for his new home (like those alphabet name sign things where its photographs of the letters of your last name found out and about) but the cheapest one I can find is $50 + $13 shipping b/c his last name is 12 letters. For this gift exchange the amount needs to be between $30-50.
I also have my SIL who is a SAHM and has 4 kids (5, almost 4, 2 and 2 months). I would love to get her something personalized also and was thinking of some kind of jewelry or something on Etsy. She likes cooking and baking too so maybe something fun for the kitchen? I have no idea the limit for that gift is $30-40.
My DH also has her husband for the gift exchange so we have debated getting them 1 larger "couples gift" instead of two individual gifts. Her DH is a pilot and a realtor and for his gift the range is about $40-60 (DH has his name in two different gift exchanges hence his $$ amount being higher). Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks ladies!
Re: Need help with gift ideas...
I love this catalog. I bet they have something music or science/geek related for your brother. Go to the very bottom of the home page where they have links to other catalogs. The Wireless one is good too. http://www.signals.com/
For SIL, maybe some cute little pendant on Etsy? You could do the initial of each child on a silverish pendant. You could get them a nice restaurant gc for a dual gift or maybe a movie theatre gc & a chan restaurant gc. I'd be happy with type of gift so we could have a fun date night!
We are going to order one of those personalized name photo frame dealios, too, but I just noticed it only takes up to 9 letters. However, try peaking around at this site and see what you can find. They have a lot of really nice things for a decent price, and well within your price ranges.

For kitchen related items, maybe try Sur La Table (in Rookwood Commons). You can check their website, but they have a TON of stuff for very inexpensive prices.
I know that both Kenwood Towne Center and Tri County Mall have those kiosks w/ a bunch of different ornaments you can get personalized. There were a few that you can get the names of the kids or the entire family on and I want to say were $20 or less if I remember correctly. HTH!
