I Win the Stupid Award Today

So I drove to work today, which I don't usually do.  At the end of the day, I went to the car, put my bag in the trunk, and went to unlock the car, only to realize...oops, I locked my keys in the trunk.  Doh!  B had to go home and get the extra set of car keys and come back to my office (about an hour roundtrip).  Oh, and the best part was that my key card to the building was in my bag in the trunk, so not only did I have to explain the situation to building security to let me into the building, but I had to call a partner at my law firm and explain the situation to him since I didn't have my card to get into the office.

  • I think that we've all locked our keys in the car or at home at one point. Glad it all worked out though.

  • I'm sorry! This is a nightmare of mine.

I don't think about it nearly as much anymore since I commute and my truck sits, but DH borrowed my truck last week and pulled his wallet out to pay at a parking lot and left it on my seat. Of course by the time he realized it, I had my only set of keys (I've only ever had one key, since I used my spare for autostart 10 years ago) downtown and he was S.O.L..Because he was to proud to call our roadside assistance.

  • That sucks.  But we've all been there.  At least you didn't leave the car running.  Not that I've done that before.  In the middle of a snow storm.

  • The only reason I have AAA is to unlock my car when I lock my keys in it. I do this at least 3 times a year.

  • Once I accidentally took all three sets of Ed's keys with me to work...and I drove my car.  Needless to say, he was not thrilled when he went to go start his car and there were NO keys...I work 30 minutes away, and I already had students when he went to leave.  Luckily his brother was there and he borrowed his car to get himself to work.  Oops...
