Do you find the "put this as your status/change this to your profile pic" games...
(1) Fun?
(2) Childish?
(3) Amusing?
(4) Annoying?
(5) Lame?
(6) No Opinion?
(7) My opinion changes depending on the game/reason for it.

Sometimes I think they're fun. Mostly I ignore them. I think they're a stupid way to raise awareness about an issue...but my picture is totally a cartoon character right now. Not because I think that have a Care Bear instead of my face is going to end childhood violence, but because I actually got a little jealous/nostalgic seeing all the other cartoon pictures so I wanted to post my own. Besides, it's *supposed* to end on Monday, so it's just for the weekend.
Re: FB Games: A Poll
I spent a whole hour this morning being stabby about it.
Sure, people can knock themselves out waxing nostalgic about childhood cartoons, but to do so in the name of awareness of child abuse... get the eff out. Slacktivism at its finest. I can stand on the street and wear a hot dog costume and say it's in the name of world peace awareness -- same result.

(A) I've never heard the word "slacktivism" but it's now one of my favorites.
(B) I totally want to change my picture to a hot dog and say it's for world peace awareness. (Notice - standing on a street corner is too much effort).
(C) Don't be stabby about my Care Bear.

Of your choices, I pick 5) Lame. If I got to choose my own adjective (or modifying phrase), I would choose "a waste of even minimal effort that makes the doer look a little foolish". Not to knock you personally, SBS (I hope you know I like you!), or anyone else doing it for that matter, but I hate that bandwagon BS and, if you weren't the first one I saw, I know you're just copycatting someone else. I would more appreciate a status update about child abuse (plain, direct, none of this "on the couch"-for-breast-cancer-type business) and leave your picture alone.
It sort of angers me that people get self-righteous about "this is to end child abuse." No it's not. Do something real.
Ironically, I used to work with a lot of abused children when I was a special education teacher, and I am facebook friends with some of them. None of them have changed their picture to a cartoon.

I'm torn between voting for Annoying and Lame. Mostly thinking Annoying though. I usually don't participate in them...like right now my pic is one of DH & I and not The Smurfs.
I especially find the ones that say "97% of people won't repost" annoying.

Thisssss x 1000. I will say though, that I find this current trend much less annoying than the last round of mock breast cancer awareness. I'll take cartoon characters ANY day over "I like it on the table" or some similar crap.

Although the reason pisses off Mames, like SBS I finally changed mine because I was jealous of all the other cartoon pics up and wanted a feeling of nostalgia for a little bit. I agree it does absolutely nothing, and I won't pretend it does. I think a link to Unicef would be a better use of status updates. But I like 80s cartoons.
Overall, I choose option 7, my opinion changes depending on what the meme is.

Speaking of, one of my FB friends posted this today.
I'm getting so stabby about FB, I may go on an unfriending spree soon...
**facepalm**
One of my FB friends just posted this:
ATTENTION EVERYONE: the group asking everyone to change their profile picture to their favorite cartoon is actually a group of pedophiles. They're doing it because kids will accept their friend request if they see a cartoon. Nothing to do with supporting child violence. It was on that TV show that warns you about internet frauds. Its on tonights News.
**headdesk**
If it's not slacktivism, it's another evils of the internet.
Maybe avoiding facebook altogether isn't such a bad idea...
I have a list of FB pet peeves the length of my entire body, but I just can't quit it. Plus it would be pretty side-eye worthy if a social media manager deleted her account.

Is my misuse of apostrophes one of them? I wouldn't blame you if it was...
I'd say I'd find them Lame/Annoying.
I'm not really a fan of any type of Fwd or chain messages on FB. The bigger FB gets, the more I'm noticing this spam type crap. I had a farmville account for the shortest time like 2 yrs ago and I am still paying the price for it with requests. I think changing your profile picture to something nostalgic is fine, but to pin it to a cause is lame. You are not going to change the world by posting a pic on facebook, come on...
Slacktivism is an awesome word.
