Cookie Exchange Menu help

Any suggestions for some salty/ savory snacks to serve along with cookies at the exchange. Sometimes the sweetness of the cookies is just too much. Also any ideas for drinks or cocktails?

Re: Cookie Exchange Menu help

  • I'm hosting one as well. Still trying to think of stuff to serve but so far I'm thinking Rotel dip, some kind of pinwheel, and something else.

As for drinks, we're just having wine.

  • Our host keeps it simple- cheese and crackers, a seafood dip and crackers, some sort of small sandwich.  For drinks she'll do wine, a bucket of frozen mix, and non-alcohlic stuff.  I've either been pregnant or nursing the last 3 years so the n/a stuff is appreciated.
  • I am in the same boat as my exchange on on Sunday.  The guys will be in the basement watching football, so I am making stuff with that in mind: bonless chicken wings, nachos, pigs in a blanket, spinach artichoke dip, hummus and a variety of veggies & crackers. I also have pizza for later. Because we don't eat the cookies at my exchange, I usually make a batch for us to eat (the guys especially  get mad we are exchanging cookies and they don't get any) and have some kind of cake on hand.  For drinks: eggnog, coffee, tea, milk, white russians and wine.

Last year I did shrimp cocktail, artichoke dip and a cheese platter with a variety of crackers.  I made a batch of chocolate chip cookies for us to munch on too.  Same drinks as above.

    Have fun!

  • I made the following for my party:  cut fruit, veggies/dip, pepperoni bites (mini muffin), pepper boats (square piece pepper with a dip of cream chz and lemon pepper seasoning and almond slices on top), wontons (mini muffin) with eggs/boursin chz/bacon, buffalo chix bread, chips.  Drinks I put out bunch of mixers and soda but I make one cocktail..this year it was the Grinch...midori, vokda, sweet/sour mix, grand marnier and toss is a couple raspberries...yummy!

    Anniversary
  • I hosted one today.  I had spinach artichoke dip, meatballs, pinwheels, ranch oyster crackers, a taco dip, and a hot chocolate bar.  I was also going to have cheese and crackers and a veggie tray but we had bad weather and everyone couldn't make it, so I pared it down a little bit.
