I ordered a stovetop percolator coffee pot that was recommended by a coworker claiming that it makes great coffee, maybe the best she's ever had. I was a little skeptical about this at first, but I have to say that it does make some very good coffee, better than my electric drip machine. The first time I made coffee with it I didn't use enough grounds and it was very bitter. The second time I made coffee I doubled the amount (8 tablespoons) and it was perfect. It was probably the best pot of coffee I've ever made at home. I even heated up some I had leftover from yesterday this morning, and it wasn't bad. I'm not sure I'll ever use my drip machine again.
The only issue I can see people having is that it takes a little bit longer to brew than a drip machine (about 25 minutes). For me it wasn't a huge deal because my drip machine takes close to 20 minutes to finish brewing, and an extra 5-10 minutes wasn't a big deal. Other than that, it was very easy to use and produced a great cup of coffee.
I would recommend this to anyone who loves coffee and is looking for a new way to brew it. My coworker says that she's even taken it camping to make coffee over a fire and it still tastes great.
Another plus is that it's only $20 from Target.com with free shipping:
