Disney's Princess Half

Who said they were thinking about doing it? I was looking at the 5k the other day and I think running through EPCOT would be awesome (I am somewhat of a Disney freak lol) but I am not sure if I was to spend $45 on a race just yet.

Re: Disney's Princess Half

  • I don't know if anyone here is doing it. We (Carolyn, Jenny & I) are doing the Gasparilla races, which are the same wknd as the Disney half.

FYI: Have you looked @ the actual course map for the 5k? I volunteered for the half last year (and Carolyn has run the full) and it's a lot of running in the road and not necessarily in the park. When I volunteered we were in some back area that was back behind the park, not in the park, and the finish was in the parking lot I believe, not even in the park. Just a thought.

  • i did and it shows the cours as all through epcot. a little is on the road but you run through the world showcase and future land.

  • Gotcha, well that is pretty cool to run through the park.

IMO, disney races are to expensive for me. That's one of the main reasons I won't run the half.. $135! Those people are nuts.

My aunt is doing a 5k this coming weekend that runs through seaworld. She wants me to do it, but I'm going to have my neice. It would be cool though.

  • i think it would be really cool but i feel that if i paid that much money i would want to get a really good time too. that sea world race sounds really cool too lol

  • Can I just say I think it's really cool that you are getting into running!?!
  • Also I think you should look at the gasparilla 5k! That race is huge and will really be fun. Health & Fitness expo, crowd support, lots of runners.... A true racing experience!
  • H did the marathon last year and it was such an incredible experience for him, and for me just being there! I know you love Disney so I think you would really appreciate running through Epcot!
  • Ditto what Carolyn said!

I also think it's totally awesome that you are planning for a 5k in Feb!!  Let us know if you plan on doing one in Jan!

    http://lifeisbeachykeenblog.wordpress.com
  • Thanks ladies! I would plan one for Jan but I have no idea what we are doing for Aiden's birthday yet! Their is another one is Feb I want to see if my mom will do it with me. I would just walk it with her though but I was thinking about running it if she doesn't joing me. It's at www.runforkids.com I will have to look into the Gasparilla 5k!

I am doing the Disney Princess half. I did the full before and swore I'd never do Disney again but my future SIL really wants to do it so I said yes.

IMO I would find a 5k closer and cheaper rather than doing Disney.

  • I want to start running with all of you girls! My H has tried to get me to do it but I'm not a runner. It sounds like fun so I think I will start running around the block!!

When I can run around the block could I join you ladies??

The 2 5ks that I have done have been run/walks so as long as you can walk around the block you can join! :)

  • I'll be doing the Gasparilla half! I was going to do the Disney Princess but the cost was what really changed my mind. Not only is the race $$$$ (like Jena mentioned) but we would have to travel there and stay the night. I've run a 15K Disney race before that went through Epcot and I was honestly unimpressed. From their lack of port-a-poties (very important if you're suffering from the dreaded runner's trots Embarrassed) to the fact that maybe only 1-2 miles was actually in the park (rest was access roads and highway) the whole thing just wasn't a great experience personally.

I think the only way I'd do Disney Princess 1/2 would be if it was a WCF Nestie road trip!!! Big Smile What do you think ladies? 2012?

Lol. I would consider this as well. Aren't you planning for a 2012 full around this time?

Actually, I would love a WCF road trip - maybe we could even find another race around Florida to do.

I just had friends who did the Ragnar Relay, and I thought... um... that would be fun to get some of us to do!

Chris saw the Ragner people on 54 in NPR and he told me I should find some runner friends and do it next year.

I thought about asking you what you though, but I thought you might look @ me like I had 12 heads Stick out tongue

I'm totally down for the Ragnar, that would rock. I read a blog of a girl that just did it, looks like a ton of fun. Plus, you run through Clermont, awwwww.

So I kind of got the idea from the website. I would totally do this!! We need 12 people to participate?

  • Yah, i think its 12 people, and you each run 3 times. I think someone is always running. I don't know for sure. I know they camped out in Mascotte- I had a friend on FB asking what the hell all the runners were doing out and what was going on across from city hall.

It would be an awesome experience, but I don't know any other runners really.

  • ( i can't think of the name) but what about the race where you go through mud and it's almost like a boot camp? My friend did it and said it was sooo much fun!

"Throughout the course competitors are challenged by various obstacles such as tractor tire flip, tire run, steep hill climb, tunnel crawl, roll and pull, cargo net, mystery event, mud pit, etc.  Each team determines its own strategy to get through the course, which covers about 6 miles and 18 challenges.  Course terrain includes grass, dirt, jeep trail and single track trails."

I'd be afraid I wouldn't be able to do something and I wouldn't want to let my partner down.

Now that sounds like my kind of race! I am a fan of drills and boot camp style challenges. The 6 miles sounded rough because I have a hard time finding a pace, but when I saw that there is a bike involved that completely changes the scenario. Fun! I should probably not attempt it so soon wthout training. Next year for sure!.
