I just got a HIPAA complaint about one of my 90 yr old volunteers and now I have to explain to this small-town old woman that she cannot call everyone she knows when she sees a family friend being admitted to the hospital.
This is going to be especially fun because this is the old lady who DOES NOT UNDERSTAND how gift certificates work. She cannot comprehend that the gift shop has already received the money for the gift certificate and tries to turn redeemed certificates into finance like payroll deduct slips. And she is our treasurer for the gift shop- scary, right?
Old people. Sheesh. I'm making my boss come with me when I have to talk to her.

Yes, absolutely. I so do not envy you right now.
Oooh a crotchety 90-yr old-HIPAA violating-treasurer lady?
Wear.Your.Armor.
She yelled at me the other day because volunteers didn't get a turkey this year. I explained to her that volunteers can only be given turkeys if there are some left over after the employees get their turkeys, and even then they are supposed to give their name to the lady who hands them out to let her know they want one. We ran out of turkeys this year. She didn't care. She was still mad and had to let me know. that volunteers do a lot for the hospital
I'm like b!tch, they cost $10. I will buy you a cheap ass turkey.
(What I really said was "And that's why we have a volunteer appreciation party every year, Dorothy.")
We are showing a confidentiality video at their monthly meeting tomorrow morning and the boss and I are sitting her down for a talk on Monday.
It's not the awkwardness that bothers me, it's the fact that she isn't going to understand and that just annoys me!

This is so funny.
Oh the old people and their drama! Hope things work out and she starts to "get" it.
This could be my DH's grandma. She just doesn't get that she can't tell everyone everything she knows. My BIL is a 1st responder, and she's always asking him about the calls he goes on and if she knows them. Old people!
I hope that your talk goes well on Monday. Give her hell!
