2010

I stole this from MM but it seems like a fun post.

So what was your 2010 like? What were the best, worst or most memorable moments?

Re: 2010

  • 2010 was definately a awesome year!

    Best/Memorable:

    - Getting married in June.

    - Visting England, France and Italy for 3 weeks on our honeymoon.

    - Losing 50lbs, putting my total to 70lbs since Sept 09'.

    - Getting a 20% raise.

    Worst:

    - My job became A LOT more stressful when they implemented a new system that does not work properly, causing my work load to triple.

    - My parents nearing financial ruins.

  • This is a good idea!

    Best/Memorable:

Buying and moving into our first home, celebrating our first anniversary being married, and actually working full time hours

     Worst:

I posted last year, or maybe at the beginning of this year about not having my period after going off the pill for a few months.  Well that lasted a full year, and I only just got my period last month (a year to the day of having my last one).  So ttc had to be delayed longer than I had hoped, but now that things are back to normal (hopefully) we can start to think about it. With the help of God's grace it will happen.  So I guess that could be a good thing too.

  • I like this!

    Best:

    - Getting pregnant and having healthy baby girl!

    - having ILs come to visit (ILs live in Australia)

    - having MIL and my mother (who lives in Calgary) both at my baby shower. bonus point that my nephew (who is like my little bro), his wife and 2 DDs surprise me that weekend too!

    - we got a second kitty and he became almost instant best buds with our first.

    - Grandfather with Parkinson's Disease tried a non-invasive alternative treatment and the results have been so positive.

Worst...having a hard time with this one. Most of the year has been a blessing and I'm so thankful for that.

  • 2010 went by so quickly... so I suppose, in a word, it was a whirlwind!

Best moments would have to include:

    • DH joining the Master's swim team and qualifying for Nationals
    • paying off my credit card debt!
    • getting remarried in Vegas by Elvis :)
    • having the new business succeed
    • my sister getting married!

    Worst for sure:

    • mom's ongoing health issues and heart attacks
    • having to take the builder to court :(
    • gaining back all the weight I lost over the past 2 years...boooooo
    • finding out my kitty was diabetic and watching his health deteriorate
  • Where did the time go?!

Best: having my sweet daughter in January; celebrating son's 2nd birthday; DH continuing to work at a job that he likes and is secure; getting a surprise trip to Vancouver to see a concert for my birthday.

Worst: I've been very blessed this year but seeing my one brother break up with a long-time girlfriend, my other brother separating from his wife, and my sister having some serious problems with one of her children has been really tough. Also, my family lost a close friend very suddenly at the beginning of the year. He was a lifelong friend of my brothers and his death was incredibly unexpected.

Already 2011 is looking like an exciting year (I've decided to pursue a new career!), no doubt with its fair share of ups and downs.

  • Best:

    -Had my 2nd DS

-my brother and my brother in law both got engaged (not to each other, lol)

-someone let us use their cottage as much as we wanted for the summer for free

    Worst:

-Dad had a brain tumour and had it removed.  Although it wasn't cancer, he has suffered long term effects due to the position of the tumour.

-a strained relationship with my older brother that he has no intention of ever resolving no matter how hard we try

-I can't lose any of my baby fat and it really depresses me

  • Worst (I'm saving the best for last)

not being hired permanent in my teaching position that I had last year

financial uncertainty that went with that

    Best-

Nephew being born- he's such a light in my life! Plus because we live so near them and I've been subbing and my SIL has been on mat leave we've spent a ton of time together which has been awesome!

Subbing, despite the uncertainty it's been lots of fun

My brother getting married to my wonderful new SIL

Relationship has been getting better with DH's youngest sister.

And last but not least (my big secret, so no blabbing) getting a string of BFPs last week and cautiously expecting our first baby for August 13th, 2011 which is our 6 year anniversary.

  • Whoo hoo Roses!  So exciting!!!

     Best:

Giving birth to another baby this summer.  Making plans to expand my company's product line when I'm back from mat leave, and still being in demand with potential clientele despite taking a break.  Maintaining an excellent relationship with dh.  Losing the baby weight much faster this time around.

     Worst:

Being disappointed, yet again, by people I considered my friends.  Beginning to lose faith in people in general as a result, which in general isn't part of my personal philosophy.

Oh thats awesome news! I hope a healthy pregnancy for you!

  • Best: all the great memories with friends and family, and our trip to Cuba in 4 days.

Worst: Being out of town 4-5 days a week Sept-April, literally living out of a suitcase, feeling like I'm not doing well at being a student or a wife/daughter/sister/friend

SQUEEEEEE! OMG that's so friggin' exciting!

  • Thanks! It is. It still doesn't seem real but I was at the doctors today so I should know "for sure" when my blood work comes back. The doctor did a pee stick which was super faint (which was odd) but then after I left I don't think that he waited even 3-5 minutes before he picked it up so I think it would have been darker had he waited.

  • Worst one so far!

Best moments were DD celebrated her 1st birthday and DS started kindergarten.

Worst moments:  1. My dad ended up having part of his leg amputated due to a negligent dr and diabetes complications, He also recently had a seizure due to a bacterial infection/virus which he caught during his surgery or in the hospital while recooperating. 2. DH didn't work at all due to being laid-off and not being able to find a job thanks to the economy. 3. I have just been diagnosed with hyperthyroid disease and now have undergo lots of scans and blood tests. 4. I will possibly be losing my job after christmas b/c the dnetist that I work for has decided to move back home to Calgary ASAP.

I'm looking forward to putting 2010 behind me and hopping that 2011 will be a better year.

  • Hi Ladies - greetings from the 'Peg!

Great: - the safe arrival home of my brother-in-law from a tour in Afghanistan

-the safe arrival (almost emerg c-section) of Stephanie - Aug 22nd - and discovering how much I didn't know that I loved her, and discovering how much more I love my husband since having her

-Mom getting remarried to a fantastic guy

Not so Great: - worrying about DH's job - he's a post-doctorate fellow and hopefully will find a position in 2011

-Discovering that my father has absolutely no instinct, skills or anything for babysitting our daughter (Mom & stepdad are great).  THis caused a lot of un-needed stress & frustration

-taking a job out of province for 2 months (fantastic opportunity I really couldn't turn down), and Steve missing 6 weeks of Stephanie's life (although flying in every other weekend).  Really rough, and I can't wait for mat leave

  • Best/Memorable

    - getting married in August and all the celebrations that led up to that date

    -  getting to stay the same school teaching a second year in a row (my current school was my third in 3 years and now in my fourth I'm there to stay)

    - finding out DH did not have to leave for 6 months to work in Brazil (good for his career, but I would have missed him a lot - the project fell through so he's on a different local one)

    Worst

    - honestly not a lot of bad.  A really happy and fun year.  Just found out I probably have IBS so that's sort of annoying but manageable - way better than all the things I thought it could be before I had an ultrasound and everything!

  • Oh - and buying a new house a month ago!  Wow...can't believe I forgot THAT!
