Food questions

How many people do you think a pan of lassagna will serve? That is what we are having for dinner on Christmas and I am trying to decide how much food to buy. We are going to have 20-25 people here, mostly adults. We will have snacks and garlic bread too...  I am planning on making 2 pans I am just afraid it's not going to be enough.

Re: Food questions

  • I guess it depends on the size of the pan.  Are you buying the ones like the sell at Wal Mart??  or are you going to get large pans like the ones they sell at Gordons??

If you are getting the smaller ones, I'd do 3 pans.

If you get the "bulk" sized ones I'd do 2 pans.

  • We are making it... so a typical 9x13 sized cakepan. The only real problem with doing more than 2 is we have the little double ovens and the top one doesn't work so we can really only fit 2 at a time. Maybe I will throw shredded chicken or pulled pork in a crock pot for sandwiches too...

  • I always cut large pieces of lasagna, so I would get 9 pieces out of a 9x13
  • I'm doing lasagna too next weekend for my family.  Got a good recipe you want to share??

I just use whatever recipe is in the Betty Crocker cookbook. I have used the recipe on the noodle box before too.

  • I get 12 servings out of a pan of lasagna when I make it, they aren't huge pieces but with break and snacks you don't need a huge piece. Can always make 3 pans and throw one in the fridge and only bake it if you feel like the rest is going really quickly? Also, will EVERYONE be eating it? The kids?

There are only 2 kids... and I think they both eat it but not sure.

Maybe we can do 2 full size and an 8x8
