Does your office building do anything for the holidays?

Right now, courtesy of property management, there is a harpist in the lobby playing xmas music. There is also a cappucino station, chocolate fountain with assorted fruit, marshamallows, rice krispie treats, pretzels and cream puffs, and a huge cupcake station. It made a nice afternoon snack. :) They also brought us a huge box of treats, like cookies, chocolate coverered macadamia nuts and pretzels, chocolate covered coconut, cheese straws, etc.

Re: Does your office building do anything for the holidays?

  • yum...that sounds like heaven.

i can't remember if our building does anything.

  • my office didn't because my ex-boss owned the building and he was a scrooge...
  • Nope. We're the only ones in the building (office + warehouse/shipping). Sometimes we'll do a potluck, but it doesn't sound like we'll be doing one this year. Then again with our paycut, nobody is jolly.
  • when i was working, we'd occasionally have a basket of candy the week OF christmas. and last year we got a $25 gift card for a bonus. LAME.
  • I haven't had a Christmas in my current building but I hear there is a department party in January. My lab is getting together next weekend. I did cover my lab in lights...

  • They decorate with serious dedication - the lobby is filled with fake trees, giant ornaments are hanging from the ceiling (with spotlights!), and wreaths hang on the outside of the building. All lobby and elevator music is Christmas-themed starting the day after Thanksgiving through New Years Day. They also host a breakfast for all tenants at the start of the month.

  • Our property  management company decorates the lobby. Various depts. within the agency I work for decorate for Christmas/Hannukah/Kwanzaa/Festivus for the Holiday decorating contest.

This.  Our lobby has enormous trees and two human-size nutcrackers, plus wreaths and improbably large "presents" under the tree.  It's a little insane.

  • They didn't decorate our office since very few people are there on a daily basis.  3/4 of the employees do in-home work, so we don't go there often.

My company has rented the upstairs of a restaurant in Macon for Saturday night and is throwing a holiday party with food, open bar, and DJ.  They got hotel rooms for all of the employees and their spouses at a hotel down the street and will have transportation so that no one drives drunk. My boss says it is her thank you to us for dealing with crazy folk all day.

Believe me, I know this is totally atypical from most workplaces, so I very much appreciate how much they do for us during holidays.

  • Our property mgt set up a huge tree this year in the lobby. Its really amazing. There's wreaths and lights too. Its very pretty.

Our offices are kind of self-defined by dept. so each decorates in their own way. My group has a few decorations, the next team over has a tree and every cube has a bow. Its pretty.

We decided to d oa White Elephant party too so that will be fun (plus lunch!) right before Xmas.,

  • The building I'm in most of the time just decorates. The building where the corporate office is serves breakfast in the lobby for all the tenants.

My company has a big party. It was this past Friday at Villa Christina and it was a blast!

This is funny because it sounds almost exactly like what our building does every year including the harpist!. It's supposed to be tomorrow.
