Anyone been to Lake Tahoe?

We're going this coming Tues-Sat with another couple, yay! It's kind of a random trip for me personally because I'm not outdoorsy at all. So I'll be participating in a few activities MH has planned, like snowmobiling and maybe sledding, but mostly we'll be gambling, eating, drinking, seeing the sights, etc. I won't be skiing or attempting anything very ambitious.

We're still trying to get some cold-weather appropriate clothing together. I'm feeling very unprepared!

So any tips are appreciated. Anyone been there?

  • Oh yes! We use to go every year when I was a kid.  I don't have many tips, since it's been years since I have been but you will enjoy it!!  I really hope one year soon my H and I can make it out there.  It's such a nice place to visit!

I don't have any of that! Sad

I plan to wear lots of layers and I have boots, but not uggs. When we do snow activities, I'm hoping we can rent protective clothing/shoes? MH is looking into all this today. Eeek.

  • I've been once, and it was beautiful!  Sadly, I was only there for a few days and it was for a conference, so I didn't get to do a whole lot.  I hope you have a great time!

  • It's beautiful!  I highly recommend Heavenly Resort for lunch...you take a cable car up and the view of the lake is incredible.  Also, I highly recommend Edgewood Golf (Resort?)...more amazing food (lunch and dinner) and views!

Cool, I will give H this info, thanks! That all sounds awesome.

  • I've been a few times. It's absolutely gorgeous there! Layering is defintely important, and it seems like you've got that covered. IDK about renting gear, but I would think that they would. I wish I had recs for you....its been a while since I was there and when I was there we stayed a friends of the family's cabins, twice in winter and once in summer. Have fun!!

Sorry!  Sometimes I forget I'm talking to a Floridian!  I just assume everyone has the necessities that us cold weather people have!
