le divorce

Is this everyone?

Four people? Five, if you count Star, six if you count Fenton. That's pretty far below the national average. I'd say that we're doing pretty well for a big ol' group of harpies.

Re: le divorce

  • If we are going back to old school what about Martha (cant remember her Knot name)

    Aren't they done?

  • Are we going to include previous divorces?
  • Wendy

but yeah, I think we're doing fairly well

  • Okla

Gig isn't divorced (as far as I know).

I bet her FUPA's name is Shane, like the gunslinger/drifter of literature.--HappyTummy
  • Did Star finally get divorced? I know she went lesbo for a while. Didn't Chop end up divorcing too?

  • I'm not around much, but me. And Wendy.

    She's not

  • I meant this in response to Toot, about how we're all getting divorces in all, not as any sort of judgment about those that are divorced. I reread and feel it sounds kind of weird. I tried talking with Alice about it, but she's not very helpful.

    Human: Hey Alice.
    ALICE: Can I help you?

Human: Sometimes I say things and they come out kind of bitchy.
ALICE: How do people usually respond to that? Where did you hear that?
Human: Well, no one has responded yet.
ALICE: Interesting. That is a rather sweeping generalization about people.
Human: I meant no one on the message board.
ALICE: Oh I see. That is a rather sweeping generalization about people.
Human: I don't think you do see.
ALICE: I understand it very well.

Human: When I say "no one" You always respond with the "sweeping generalization" comment.
ALICE: How do people usually respond to that? That is a rather sweeping generalization about people.

    Human: See?
ALICE: No I do not see.
    Human: Exactly.
ALICE: You and I are on the same wavelength, unknown person.

    image

  • I'll bet Alice is divorced.
  • And now people have responded and I look crazy.

    Human: People responded, nevermind.
ALICE: Humans are not always infallible.

    Human: That's true Alice.
    ALICE: Yes, it is self-evident.

  • I wish Madame CleMo could appear and tell us if Fenton is going to get a deevorce or not.  She's the only one who knows!

  • In fairness, the majority of that long list kicked the Hs to the curb.  So really, we're more stone-hearted biitches than biitcht hags who are divorced by our Hs.
    image
  • Human: Have you met Madame CleMo?
    ALICE: That information is confidential.

Human: My friends and I would like to know if Madame CleMo thinks Fenton will get divorced.
ALICE: How well do you know these people?
Human: I know my friends fairly well.
ALICE: How do you know? How well do you know these people?
Human: I just said, fairly well.
ALICE: Only just? What did you mean by it? Whoa.
    Human: Let's stay on topic.
ALICE: That sounds good to me.

    Human: Where is Madame CleMo?
ALICE: Where the heart is. Have you tried a web search?
Human: Madame CleMo is where the heart is?
ALICE: And where the heart is is Madame CleMo.

Human: I think you're getting a little deep.
ALICE: Do you think I should tone it down?
    Human: Maybe just a tad.
    ALICE: Perhaps.

  • Alice still cracks me up
    image
  • you should ask Alice why Toot can't understand how airports work
    image
  • Human: Why doesn't Toot understand the way airports work?
ALICE: I can't tell if Toot understand the way airports work.

    Human: She doesn't.
ALICE: Oh I get it. she doesn t.
    Human: Right.
ALICE: I am glad we agree.
    Human: How come she doesn't?
    ALICE: Reductionism.

  • I feel like I need to give Alice another chance. Maybe asking her if she liked green beans put us at a disadvantage.
  • I want to stab toot in the face so i didn't take your post as bitchy at all! But if i had, alice would have cleared it up for me. Mo is where the heart is.

  • I actually think it's a high number considering the fact that most people on this board (and def the ones you mentioned) have been married for less than 7 yrs.

Wouldn't people be more likely to get divorced earlier in a marriage rather than 10+ years into it in general? Either they're actually compatible or not.  I'm not sure I follow the 7 year logic here.

    image
  • I guess I'm just saying that we're only a few years in, and already we've got 5 or so that are divorced.  Who knows how many it wil be by 10 years in?

  • I see your point, but I would expect an inverse relationship with time I think. I'd suspect that likelihood of divorce decreases with time married.

It might.  Although, it seems like I see a lot of 'mid-life crisis' divorces.  But, I guess we can wait for 10yrs and see where it stands.  I would be willing to bet the number will be substantially higher as the years continue in.  But, maybe I'm wrong.

It's not just here though. On the Memo board and bump boards, it's seems like every other day someone posts that they're getting a divorce.  And in those cases, almost EVERY time there is a small child involved OR the person is 8 mos preg.  It's weird.
