Prenatal Yoga Classes?

Anyone doing this? I've found a few places in tampa, but I'm not sure if I want to do the actual classes or buy a dvd... are the classes worth the money?

Re: Prenatal Yoga Classes?

  • I know JenRN is doing it, hopefully she'll chime in. With DD, I just bought a dvd and did it at home. I haven't been doing it this time around since I'm still doing my regular classes at the gym.

  • At my local studio, it was $10/class and was definitely worth it.  I went on Saturday mornings to "Gentle Yoga" class and it helped tremendously.  I always felt so worn out at the end of class, but the stretching and relaxation were really beneficial.  Helped me learn techniques to use throughout the week, as well as in labor.

  • I have a DVD and have taken classes and the classes are soooo much better, IMO. I go to Yogani Studios on Platt near downtown and I love it! I have hip and back pain and it has helpd me SO much. Because of my work schedule I am unable to go every week and I hate that! Class is Thursday night at 6 or 6:30 and Saturday morning at 10. I've only ever been to the Saturday class, but I've heard the Thursday night instructor is really good as well. I think it's $15 per class but I bought a bunch of sessions at once so it turned out to be less than that but I don't remember how much.  Now that I am taking a labor and birting class I am realizing how helpful taking prenantal yog has been. You can definitely apply what you've learned there to labor.

Oh, I was going to try Yogani tonight and see how I like it! So maybe I will be seeing you in the classes :)

How are you liking the birthing classes? I was thinking of just getting the DVD - Laugh & Learn abiout Childbirth

Oh, I wish I weren't working tonight! I seem to work every Thursday for some reason. I'll be there Saturday though!

I really like the birthing classes! I need structure so learning in class is always beneficial for me, lol! It's offered at the hospital I work at and am giving birth at, so its been nice to hear stories from a practitioner that actually works with the L&D patients about what kind of stuff they allow. I had imagined some horrible hospital experience where you sit in bed the whole time and can't move, but as long as they baby is okay you can get up and labor around the room. A couple rooms even have tubs so I am hoping to get into one of those!

The tub sounds awesome!  I'm not sure if the hospital I'm going to has those. Maybe I will sign up for a birthing class later on.

I might go to the saturday one too so, I'll prob see you there!!
