Baby's on the move

I had my 36 week appointment today and the doctor said I'm 1 cm dilated and 50% thinned. To put it in perspective, at my appt. 2 weeks ago I wasn't dilated or thinned at all. So it's a slow process but we're making progress.

The doctor also said he thinks Preston is currently 7 or 7.5 pounds! However, he reallyreallyreally wants me to get induced on Dec. 27. He told me at my last appointment that there's a big tax deduction involved but I told him thanks but no thanks. All of a sudden, he thinks the baby is going to be really big and he's pushing the induction again. I'm really skeptical about it and I would much rather just let Preston come when he's good and ready.

Just wanted you to know how things are looking now that I'm only 3 weeks and 6 days out from meeting my new man!

How is everyone else doing? EDK, your big move is coming up soon, right?

Re: Baby's on the move

  • OMG!!!  I'm so excited for you!

I'm sorry your doctor is pushing for an induction.  If you are feeling good, why not let the baby show on his own?  Maybe he'll choose to make an early move on his own.  You are already on your way :)

  • Hallie was estimated to be barely 7 lbs and she was just under 9.  Even if I knew she was going to be big I wouldn't have chosen induction.  Anyone I know who has had it has said to put it off if you can.  When's your DD?  Babies make their move when they are ready.  Of course it took Hallie 8 extra days to be ready but she came when it was time.  Hang in there and do what YOU feel comfortable with, not what the dr says.  Especially if there is no medical reason for it.  Guesstimates are just that.  I've yet to hear of a dr who predicted the correct weight, or even close to it.

That's my biggest reason why I don't want an induction. There haven't been any problems and I'm not in a rush to have him out any sooner. I'm uncomfortable and miserable but what woman isn't when she's in her third trimester? I'll be the most uncomfortable person on Earth as long as it means a healthy baby, I'll just *** and moan along the way LOL.

To answer your question, my EDD is January 5. I have a feeling we're not going to make it past the new year anyway but we will see.

  • I agree to skip the induction if you don't need it. Why put yourself through that. Let him come when he's ready.

    You're getting so close!
