"The meek shall inherit the earth" isn't about children. It's about deer. We're all going to get messed the fuckup by a bunch of cloned super-deer.- samfish2bcrab
Sometimes I wonder if scientists have never seen a sci-fi movie before. "Oh yes, let's create a super species of deer. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG."
I wonder if State Farm offers a Zombie Deer Attack policy. -CaliopeSpidrman

Aww, that's sweet-especially the class that sent her letters. I'm not sure I'd call it bullying either but after a day of dealing with crying girls, I have to say the "mean girl" thing is starting younger and younger so I'm all for nipping that crap in the bud.
I don't think the school developing the anti-bullying campaign is solely related to the one incident though. It's becoming a big thing-my school is only K-3 and every morning after the Pledge of Allegiance we do an Anti-Bullying Pledge and we had to do a training last year that made us think about what ways we as teachers might be bullies and how we can change our mean intimidating ways.
Oh, FFS. As far as I can tell, most teachers need training in how to be more mean and intimidating.
Yeah, I rolled my eyes a few times during that one because apparently any use of sarcasm by a teacher is bullying and we need to watch our tone and show them the utmost respect at all times. Um, yeah, try remembering that when some little snotnose tells you "NO!" for the tenth time.
I probably was a bully today because I made light of all the crying but you're not bleeding, stop wailing like a freakin infant already! I can be sensitive and compassionate when need be but the overly dramatic lip quiver that turns into full on sobbing tantrum when you don't get your way or when someone "steals" your pencil is not cute when you're 8.
Besides, someone needs to instill some fear in these kids, God knows the parents aren't. I don't need to be their friend, they need to respect me and fear my wrath.
I probably come off sounding like a cold-hearted biitch right now but I had a rough day. And I swear if I have to settle one more "that's my pencil" argument that involves a freaking yellow #2 pencil, I am going to lose my mind.
I will be interested to see if the anti-bullying campaigns work. I think a lot of kids bully because they're kids and they don't understand the extent of what they're doing hurts someone because their brains aren't fully developed. I think some kids are susceptible to bullying and slights both real and imagined because they're sensitive souls. I was a weird unpopular kid who dressed funny and was too smart and yes kids were mean to me, but 9 times out of ten I didn't notice or care.

The imagined slights are the worst. One paranoid boy regularly calls out "stop laughing at me" or "but I didn't do anything" anytime someone is laughing, asking to speak to me privately, or I make a general statement about proper behavior. Even if someone else's name is mentioned, he thinks it's about him and gets upset.
