i'm so freaking irritated right now.
over the summer, i had some issues with certain people that i was FB friends with so i did a big "clean up" and eliminated anyone that i didn't see regularly. i also double checked ALL my settings and made my profile private private.
well, i just checked things out and EVERYTHING was public again.
i have no idea when this happened but i'm PISSED. i don't say a lot of FB that i feel i shouldn't but one little innocuous comment just got me in trouble again. of course, i was sitting there baffled because i knew my profile was private. well, fool me, it wasn't. i'm just about done with FB. if they can't stop jacking stuff up and preventing you from using it the way you want to... grrr...

Did you change to the "new profile" and it reset your settings?
I just checked my privacy settings and they were all okay. That's weird yours all switched.
I never say anything on my Facebook that I wouldn't say to my grandma, my boss, or a priest. That way there is no risk of anyone getting offended or me getting into trouble. I don't even blog controversial things because there are always ways to find stuff like that. Once it's online it's public for everyone to see. I think some people forget that. (Not necessarily YOU, just "people" in general.)
The only thing I find a bit weird is that random people (mostly from the Pets board actually) have friended me on there and I delete the request. My general rule that I usually follow is that if I haven't met you then I don't friend you.
i agree and that's #1 why i made my profile SO private and #2 the comment i made mentioned no names or situations. in fact, the few people that commented on it seemed very confused so no one knew what i was referring to. but, since my profile was public, i think someone saw it that DID know what i was talking about. stupid facebook.
You'd think that FB would just make everyone's profile uber private and then let people change their setting to be more public if they choose to. I don't post much on FB but enjoy keeping up with friends, their kids, etc who I'd otherwise not see/connect with on a reglar basis. I think it's hilarious when people take those dumb quizzes and then their score shows up on the main page- ie- how many sexual partners will you have? What!?!?

I just checked mine and alls good still, so maybe it is the new profile things. I haven't updated to the new one yet.
I keep mine uber private, I even have code words for my boss if I do post comments about it...but I try to refrain because some of my other co-workers are my friends...even though they feel the same way about the porcupine...
Can someone explain the "new profile" to me? I have seen many people have updated theirs, but I have no idea how to do that or if I need to.
Well now Kiz we've met (briefly) and we're not FB friends. I was actually thinking about that the other day. We need to get together at the dog park sometime next year.
I haven't switched over to the new profile yet (at least I don't think I have). They're making some strange changes these days.
It's just a new layout for your profile. I'm guessing they want everyone to switch over at some point. It was just introduced this week.
I will definitely be checking my privacy settings when I get home!
We should be FB friends! :-) I broke my rule and friended =Numbers= before meeting her but I knew I'd be meeting her a few days later when we dropped off the supplies for the humane society. :-)

Babies are good so far. I'm waiting for labs to come back this afternoon and find out what's up. I met with a nurse practitioner rep from the children's hospital today, which I know was more precautionary, but it kinda freaked me out. I haven't thought about the NICU much, and I should be.

I was highly annoyed with it a few weeks ago. I logged in like normal and it told me my account had been disabled because I violated some rule about impersonating another person or creating a fake account. Ummm okay. I go on it maybe once a day, at most 4 times a week. Turns out millions of women (also interesting) also had the same thing happen. It was some glitch in their system. I was ready to get rid of it right then and there mostly because I was worried about someone being able hack into my account or something like that.
Unfortunately it's a good way to share photos and one of the only ways I can communicate with my much younger siblings (and actually get a response) and other family members.
I also don't get why the default isn't high security/privacy, and if you want to be more public you can change it. I don't think I have ever met anyone who has said "you know what would make facebook better? if more people could find everything and anything they want about me and if more people especially potential employers, creepers, and strangers could see my pictures! that would be great."

This is true for my family. If they don't answer their phone, I send them a facebook message and VOILA - INSTANT RESPONSE! Crazy...
I guess I'm in the middle between private and not. I do use the limited profile like crazy though for people that I don't talk to much or don't see updates for.
Ugh, facebook - such a necessary evil.
Strength, I noticed a photo of you in my fb friend's album not so long ago - it was her 30th bday party, celebrated at her dads house. She was a friend of mine in college. I was invited to that party but couldn't make it. Facebook shows how truly small of a world it is Crazy.
Katherine? That's so funny! She's fun. We hung out with her in Sturgis this past summer too. Her dad's house is beautiful!
