TGIF!

Morning! Freezing! Eeeee. And it's not even in the 20s yet. I realize as I get older it takes my body longer to adjust to the changes in season.

Last night I went home, changed, let the dogs out, watched Glee from two weeks ago....MFD got home and made a naughty  dinner. I put a few more decorations up, dusted the library and cleaned the powder room. Productivity ended there. We watched Criminal Minds, The Closer, 30 Rock and The Office on the DVR.

I slept like a log from 11:30 on and was not interested in the slightest in getting up this morning.

Please let this day go quickly. I need to check the train schedule so I make sure I'm at my hair appointment on time.

Weekend plans: Hair for me tonight. MFD will deal with the tree. Saturday my Dad & Carol's Christmas party. Sunday is my Gamma's birthday party.

Re: TGIF!

  • You've been a busy lady!

I made some x-mas cookies last night.  Plan on doing more this weekend.  We're supposed to get a lot more snow late tonight into tomorrow, so we'll probably just hunker down all weekend.  Watch movies, bake, etc.

  • I wish I could be that productive! I did get the spare room mostly set up for my nieces to stay this weekend. I bought tons of baking stuff this weekend for us to make so we'll be making lots of cookies, brownies, and cakes among other things all weeked. I can't wait!

I have to knit a hat for a friend sometime this weekend/early next week too so I'm hoping I can talk Jeremy into driving this afternoon/tonight to get the girls so I can knit and be done with it. We'll see....

  • you want to talk about cold?  it was 3 degrees here this am.  it has warmed up to 9 now.  and because we are broke, we turn our heat off at night.  and i woke up FREEZING.

relaxing tonight with g, christmas sh*t tomorrow while he is at work again, baking all day sunday.  all.day.  8 hours.  with MIL.  i will need wine.

  • Hallelujah!  It's Friday!

Went to the gym last night...man it felt so good.  That's pretty much all I did last night, that and watch The Office.

We are wine club members at the winery where we had the wedding and we have to do our wine pick up.  We didn't pick up our wine from two months ago so now we have 4 bottles to pick up.  I don't even know what we're getting.  All I know is that we're getting one red and one white.

I hope that we get a cab so I can use it to make gravy for Christmas.  For Thanksgiving I made a gravy with the turkey drippings and their cab and OMG it was SO good.  It smelled amazing too.

OMG, Shauni, that sounds awful.  3 degrees does not compute.  I'm freezing my tail off at 20!  Do you seriously turn your heat off at night or just down low?  We turn ours down pretty low (like around 60) during the day while we're gone and once we go to bed, but never completely off.  The house gets so cold with the heat off that it just makes the furnace have to run constantly to get it back up to heat when we do raise the temp - I assume it's probably not much of a cost/power savings then.  You also don't want your pipes to freeze!

Anyway...it's snowing here!  Enough to cover the ground.  First snow of the year, so I'm overly excited.  Until I have to drive home from work with all the incompetent a-holes around here.  I'm ready for the weekend.  Work holiday party tomorrow.  Free food and booze?  Yes, please!

  • Well it's only about 50-55 degrees here and the high is in the high 60's. I wish it would finally get cold. I want to drink hot cocoa and snuggle up but you can't when its shorts weather!

I have no plans tonight or Saturday night. H has been working 10 and 11 hour days so I hate to ask him to go somewhere when I know he's exhausted. Then Sunday we are going with BIL and his FI to go look at Christmas lights. I always say I have no plans then something comes up at the last minute, like last night I was planning to stay home all evening and relax. Well I left work at 1 and went home and was out of the house by 3 and didn't get home until 9.

yes, we normally turn it off completely.  we have 2 sources of heat: electric (by room) and a gas stove.  i just reset the stove so that it comes on whenever it drops below 60 so the pipes dont freeze.  but we sleep wtih our bedroom door closed, so the measly 60 degree heat from the fireplace in the night does not make it up to our room.  i think tonight i will turn the bedroom heat on to maybe 66.  see if it makes a difference.

Ah, that makes sense.  I thought you were turning it off completely.  I was going to start worrying that you'd wake up a popsicle one of these mornings if you had no heat with 3deg outside!

I've gotten used to sleeping with lots of blankets on and keeping warm while I sleep at 60deg.  The worst part for me by far is getting out of bed in the morning.  It's already hard enough for me to get up and moving, but the shock when I pull back the blankets and it's arctic in the bedroom is awful!  I have to take a boiling shower just to warm my blood.

  • Happy Friday! My dad is getting discharged today and is going to a nursing home for a week or so to rehab more.

It is 8 degrees here today and we have a winter storm warning starting at midnight tonight and going through Sunday 6am. We are supposed to get 12 - 16 inches of snow, wet heavy snow.

DH and I put up and decorated the tree yesterday with our cat who went around batting off the ornaments the whole time. Tonight we both work and tomorrow we are going to our wedding venue for a multi course dinner and concert after I am done coaching skating and DH is done reffing hockey.

  • Shauni - we keep our heat on 65 or below at night. Down comforter and flannel pants! Oy. I hate heating bills.

As for MILs, mine hates me, so I will not be doing 8 hours of anything with her anytime soon.
