GIRL!!!
She's perfectly healthy & has everything she needs to have. She weighs 12 ounces right now. :-)
DH and I just about freaked out in the car after - haha - I think we mentally ffwd'd to when she's age 16 or so - eeeeek! But oh wow - we have a daughter!
I had a very tumultuous relationship with my own mother growing up - it's been a bit better as an adult myself but still a work in progress. I always knew my mom loved me - we were just never close...in a way that I saw my friends were with their moms and I was always envious of that. I'm just scared about raising a daughter a little bit but this is also a chance to create a new relationship inside that mother-daughter dynamic with my own child.

You know, I knew from the day I found out I was pregnant that this was a girl. Mother's intuition??? But in the past couple days 85% of our friends have been saying they think it's a boy...which is funny to have had such an overwhelming majority! But Mama was right all along. :-) Makes me feel like I already had a bond with my little girl from the earliest days...and I've been a teary mess all afternoon thinking about everything now that I can call her "her" and "she" rather than "it" and "the baby."
I keep thinking about how I want to teach her to cook and to respect & love animals and to think critically / for herself and about all the traditions that I loved growing up that I want to share with her...holiday things, etc.
DH said it feels all the more real now knowing our little one is a girl and to see her today really moving around in there (he got a brief glimpse at our 12-wk u/s but at 20wks he commented on how she really looks like a baby now).
OMG congratulations!!!!! I'm sooo excited for you and your HH, very exciting! Do you have ultrasound pics that you can post for us?
