FB Question

Is there a setting on FB that prevents other people from tagging you in photos? If so, where do I find it?

I'm still struggling w whether or not to completely delete my account...

Re: FB Question

  • You can't "prevent" people from tagging you in photos, but you can prevent people from seeing any photos you are in. I would use FB signifigantly less/delete my account if it wasn't part of my job. I just don't like how much access it gives people. However, I always say, better to be there and have the ability to monitor it than pretend like it doesn't exist. JMHO :) HTH!

  • You can also change your settings to get a notificiation email and/or text from FB notifying you of when you've been tagged. Then you can go and untag yourself from the photo.

Generally my FB is locked down as tight as I can get it. If you aren't a friend, you can't see anything.

This is the exact thought that has prevented me from deleting it already.

I think that this is what a lot of people think, but it's a very false sense of security. In my current line of work, I deal a lot with employment-related law, and you would be SHOCKED to see how much employers know, how much "private" information is WAY more public than you think... just a thought....

This is very true! That is why I try to keep a strict policy of not putting anything in writing or taking a picture that I wouldn't want my grandma to see or read.

an aside: paranoid employers are the WORST.(I understand that there are some instances/jobs where you are always working i.e.:teachers, doctors, nurses, lawyers) They are entirely counter productive in 98% of things that they do. Strict internet usage poilicies are baby sitters for adults and you know what? If your employee needs a babysitter- you don't need them. JMHO again. :)

  • once you untag yourself from a pic they cannot "re-tag" you...my hubs had to use fb for his work and his old employers were so annoying ab it...
