Name Change!
Hi everyone, I am new to the nest, although I did creep on the knot forums frequently! I hope everyone's wedding was amazing!
I just wanted to see if anyone else has had trouble remembering to use their new name. I initial at least 20-30 documents a day, and I frequently catch myself using my old initials. I even have caught my Husband using my old name...I guess it will just take some time to get used to.
In other news, I just got my new license in the mail today, and it has the absolute worst picture I have ever seen on a drivers licence. My H said it is so bad I should change my middle name so they will give me a new licenses. haha. I think I am going to visit the DMV again and see if I can pay them to take another picture.
Re: Name Change!
I've used my old name accidentally on several occasions! I'm a teacher so I hear my last name constantly all day. The students have started to remember more consistently though, which is good.
My new DL picture is also awful. VA has a new license design with a hologram and you're not allowed to smile. I look terrible when I don't smile!
I had to sign my name twice today and both times I did my old name! I don't have to sign that often so it's really hard for me to remember the few times I do.
I'm getting all of my legal stuff done next week so hopefully that will make it more "real" and easier to remember.
I changed my name legally just three days after the wedding, so I've had my new name for almost a month. Until yesterday, though, I still had my maiden name on everything at work (and IT still needs to come and update my email, logins, etc.). It feels wrong using my maiden name at work. I am really surprised by how quickly I adapted to my married name, considering I had such a hard time convincing myself to change it in the first place!
I will admit though...I just added my husband to my vision and dental yesterday, and seeing our names (married name) and my son's name (he has my maiden name) made me really sad for a little bit. Oh well. It'll take time to get used to everything all around.
